The Analytics Data Engineering org builds out high-quality, critically important datasets that combine customer, property, transaction, and marketing data into a comprehensive source of truth datasets consumed by analytics, machine learning, and product teams across Zillow. The datasets we build are essential in allowing Zillow to make key business decisions about new or recently launched products and gain insights into our existing services.

About the role
As a Senior Software Development Engineer in the Analytics Data Engineering organization, you will play a central role in powering analytical and ML teams by providing validated high-quality datasets that are a single source of truth across the organization
Design, implement, and take ownership of critically important ETL pipelines
Contribute to the architecture and development of near real-time and batch data products
Work closely with business partners, data analysts, data scientists, and machine learning engineers to build production-ready datasets that meet their business needs
Partner with data platform and data governance teams to apply the best data engineering practices
Review the code of your peers
Advocate for industry-leading best practices and methodologies for building high-quality datasets
Explore new technologies to improve upon existing solutions
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.
Who you are
5+ years of software development experience with very high proficiency in Python or Scala or Java.
Led the design/implementation of sophisticated, config driven, highly scalable/reliable data pipelines using EMR, Kafka, Spark, Hive, Airflow or equivalents
Must have SQL knowledge
Must have detailed knowledge of data structures and algorithms
Must have prior experience working with customers to understand and collect requirements.
You understand the concepts behind distributed databases, and both streaming and batch processing systems
