What’s the role?

We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing data-driven solutions that leverage advanced analytics and machine learning techniques, with an emphasis on creating, running, and maintaining data models. You will collaborate closely with product, software engineers, and business stakeholders to design, build, and deploy scalable and robust data science models and applications. Your work will play a crucial role in driving ALEX’s recommendation engine forward. 

What you’ll do to be successful 

1.) Build and Maintain Data Models

  • Design and develop data science models and algorithms that solve benefit related healthcare problems and deliver actionable insights.
  • Implement end-to-end data science solutions, including data collection, preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure the availability, quality, and reliability of data for analysis and modeling.
  • Develop and deploy scalable machine learning models and algorithms that can handle large-scale datasets.
  • Optimize and fine-tune models for performance, accuracy, and scalability.
  • KPIs: Data Models quality, availability and performance

2.) Engineer Data Products

  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure the availability, quality, and reliability of data for analysis and modeling.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to gain insights and identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in the data.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate data science models and algorithms into production systems and applications.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence and apply them to solve business challenges.
  • KPIs: Product integration, Data Expansion and use across JV

Experience & skills you’ll need

  • 5+ years of experience developing full-stack web applications
  • Proficiency coding in Ruby on Rails and/or Python
  • Prior exposure to modern front-end frameworks like React, Vue, or AngularJS
  • Understanding of relational databases (experience writing raw SQL is a bonus)
  • Proven experience as a Data Science Engineer or in a similar role, with a focus on developing and deploying data science models and applications
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or R, with experience in data manipulation, statistical analysis, and machine learning
  • Solid understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms and techniques, including supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, and natural language processing
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, with the ability to always be curious 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and present complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Preferred, but not required - Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data science, statistics, or a related field
