CNBC’s Kate Rooney spoke with our Founder and CEO, Max Levchin, yesterday about the clarity and control that Affirm’s transparent payment options can offer consumers. “It’s excellent when consumers are being smarter with their money… We help them buy things and pay over time with a great degree of clarity and control… There are no late fees. There’s no deferred interest,” Max said. “We've never charged a penny of late fees. The reason for that is not just that it's a marketing line and consumers benefit, it's the fact that it fundamentally aligns us with consumers… We don't make money when they're struggling. We don't benefit from their misfortune.” Watch here: https://bit.ly/4dGHHdb

"Be patient with your own failures but impatient with the desire to do great things,” Affirm’s CFO Michael Linford recently told graduates of The University of Texas at Austin. 🎓 Michael delivered the keynote address at the Cockrell School of Engineering, The University of Texas at Austin’s 2024 commencement ceremony, where he touched on his journey to becoming Affirm’s CFO and shared some words of wisdom for the next generation of problem solvers. 💡 "Each individual success and failure present an opportunity for growth,” said Michael. “Celebrate both for what they will do for you. Remember you are never as bad as you feel in your moments of failure, and you're never as good as you feel in your moments of success. The right reaction from both is that you are growing." Affirm Founder and CEO Max Levchin joined Sonali Basak on Bloomberg News today and addressed why recent commentary on “phantom debt” in BNPL misses the mark. Some key points from the interview: • 🏆 Affirm only wins when consumers repay – we don’t charge late fees and don’t benefit from consumers’ misfortunes. We want consumers to repay their loans and have ZERO benefit to extending access to credit that can’t be repaid. If they don’t repay one transaction, they won’t get approved for another. • 💪 We underwrite every individual transaction and our financial results – published every quarter – show how we’re doing at managing risk. The results speak for themselves. • ✅ The industry is moving toward credit reporting, which we support. We already report monthly installment loans to Experian and we are actively involved in outlining the best way to report Pay in 4 loans. • 🔎 Focusing on the total Pay in 4 balances without addressing overall credit card debt doesn’t provide a meaningful viewpoint of the state of the consumer or overall financial market risk. Volumes do not equal balances given the Pay in 4 products turnover so quickly. The total Pay in 4 balances across the entire industry (based on conservative estimates) represents less than 0.3 percent of the $1.1T in consumer credit card debt.
