This week, for #AAPIHeritageMonth, we’re highlighting Samantha U., Platform Product Manager at Clari. Samantha is Filipino, Chinese, and Texan! Growing up in Texas, on the border of Mexico, she heard multiple languages being spoken around the house, including English, Tagalog, Bicolana, Hiligaynon, Hokkien, and even Spanish! Fun fact: There are over 200 spoken languages in the Philippines and over 300 Chinese languages. One of the most interesting experiences of being a third-culture person is learning about how we’re not all that different and there are many traditions and values that transcend cultures and borders. A good example is our food! Growing up, Samantha always thought chicken adobo was a uniquely Filipino dish, but came to find her Chinese and Hispanic friends all share a love for an extremely similar braised dish. Today, Samantha leans on the learnings of her unique cultural background to empathize with and understand people from different walks of life, which is especially important in roles like product management. #ProudToBeAAPI
