Had a blast representing Deerfield Management and ConcertoCare last Tuesday on a panel at the HealthNext Conference sponsored by Cornell Tech in New York! The discussion was on “Investing in a Brave New World: The Generative AI Revolution and Beyond” moderated by Ian Chiang, a partner at Flare Capital Partners. It was an honor to share the stage with Chelsea Clinton, co-founder & partner at Metrodora Ventures and vice chair of the Clinton Foundation, and Daisy Wolf, partner at Andreessen Horowitz. It was exciting to hear about Daisy’s optimism for the role of #genai, particularly in the BH space, and to hear Chelsea’s enthusiasm for investment opportunities in pediatrics and her global perspective on the opportunity for #genai to help improve access to care in resource poor countries. During the panel, I discussed how companies like ConcertoCare and Somatus are using #genai to help manage complex polychronic patients (Concerto) and complex kidney care patients (Somatus). Lark Health a foundational AI-company, is deploying GenAI to support digital chronic condition management, including for patients taking #GLP1s. Cohere Health, also a foundational AI-company, is deploying GenAI to improve the quality of care and to help streamline the prior authorization process for patients, providers, and plans. We also discussed the importance of ensuring that focus remains on addressing the potential of #genai to exacerbate inequities in health care related to race and ethnicity and to develop and execute against mitigation strategies.
