Data Analyst - Carbon Team

With this, we have an awesome carbon and sustainability science team and we’re looking for a Data Analyst - Carbon Team to support them in rolling our tool to new geographies and agricultural systems. We are looking for a data analyst with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.  The successful candidate will work as part of an integrated team to create and analyze large datasets for agriculture and forest applications.  The position requires interdisciplinary skills including the ability to do independent research, create and manage databases, analyze tabular and GIS data, and write documentation and reports.  The position is salaried and includes benefits.

In this key role, you will have an opportunity to:

• Work with the carbon science and remote sensing science teams to support development of the algorithms that will help improve soil management practices nationally and internationally
• Perform literature reviews to inform greenhouse gas modeling and other scientific work
• Build and maintain databases acquired and combined from publicly available and other datasets
• Conduct independent research, collecting the information from research studies, and assembling and managing the finding using databases,
• Assist with data storage, processing, and database design
• Develop automatic extraction routines to optimize workflows
• Synthesize and interpret large datasets and present information clearly

Minimum Experience Requirements

• Background in data management and/or analysis
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate accurately and effectively
• Ability to work independently and show good judgement
• B.S. in natural resource management, statistics, information management, or related fields

Preferred background and skills

• Background in modeling, biogeochemical science, or ecology
• Familiarity with agricultural and crop management systems
• Experience with QGIS
• Experience with Python or other scripting languages
