Role Description

The Data Scientist is a member of the global Product team. This position is a full-time remote role, preferably based in GMT time zone or plus or minus a couple hours to overlap the in-country team working hours as much as possible.

You will develop key components of myAgro’s technology and data platform, which will have global reach. An important responsibility of this role will be to create and define the data architecture, data pipelines, and data reporting and dashboards used by the team. This will include use of Tableau and similar for visualizations, programming with Python and libraries for pipelines and data processing, and using the principles of human-centered design to build impactful tools and ways to use our data to bring higher impact and decisions. You will also be working closely with the field operations and program teams directly, so written and verbal communication skills are critical. This position reports to the CTO.

Key responsibilities are:

  • Data roadmap: Own and drive the development of myAgro’s data products and tools to support scaling to 1 million farmers; deeply understand use cases, develop functional specifications, and work directly with the Product Management team in order successfully to rollout comprehensive solutions.
  • Data processes and standards: Oversee the data management process, providing support and training on techniques for working with data and best practices for visualizations and reporting, and create processes and standards to be used within myAgro for future team growth.
  • Data architecture: Working collaboratively with the team, design and build myAgro’s data systems, data pipelines, and ETL tools.
  • Data analytics: Uncover trends and patterns behind data, and share insights with the Program team to enhance evidence-based decision making.
  • Data reporting and visualization: Understand user needs, and build reports and dashboards to help users directly interact with data and gain insight into what is happening.
  • Support: Collaboratively troubleshoot, fix bugs and be responsive to myAgro’s ticketing platform. Solve problems quickly and communicate with related teams as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven, strong communication skills and ability to work cross culturally
  • Experience working with Python
  • Experience working with Tableau
  • Experience working  with AWS tools (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM)
  • Experience working with SQL databases
  • Proven record of being a self-starter and delivering on projects.
  • A passion for the mission, vision and values of myAgro

Preferred Skills and Qualities

  • Familiarity with using common development tools (ticketing, version control)
  • Experience driving data initiatives and/or data quality programs.
  • French proficiency a plus but not required. The tech team primarily works in English
  • Ability to bring motivation, positivity and fun in the working environment
