The team plays a significant role in Lambda’s consultancy arm -- a group of engineers and researchers with deep experience in machine learning, software engineering, and computing infrastructure. We work innovatively on exciting new technologies to keep our services and our customers ahead of the competition.

About the Role

We are hiring a machine learning researcher to work on applied research. You will join a lean ML team and have a strong impact on both external consultancy projects and internal research and development. Your main responsibilities are: 

  • Help the team to identify, implement and test technical solutions for Lambda’s consultancy projects
  • Prospect ideas for internal projects and help the team to create IPs in the form of scalable services, licensable tools and custom models. 

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to our machine learning consultancy projects with applied research. 
  • Conduct, document and reduce the turnaround cycle of our ML experiments. Present the findings to your peers and customers in a clear and concise manner. 
  • Contribute to internal development of scalable services, licensable tools and custom models. 
  • Bring machine learning insights to our sales engineers and customers in the forms of technical blogs, benchmarks, or research publications. 
  • Propose and lead your own research project. 

You

  • Have an MS or PhD degree in EECS or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Are a highly effective team collaborator and strong communication skills
  • Have a proven track record of optimizing state-of-the-art machine learning methods in terms of quality, speed, memory footprint or scalability.
  • Have a proven track record of managing large datasets and experiments. 
  • Have a proven track record of writing reproducible ML code and significant contribution to open source projects.
  • Have knowledge of machine learning theory.
  • Have proficiency with Python and major ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.

Nice to have

  • Participated in research work published by major conferences/journals in ML or related fields.
  • Experience in running ML jobs distributedly at scale, or highly efficiently on custom edge devices.
  • Experience in CUDA programming 
  • Experience in MLOps 
  • Experience in full stack software development
