At Gearset, we build a cutting-edge DevOps solution for the millions of developers building applications on Salesforce, the world's biggest enterprise PaaS. In the space of just five years, Gearset has become the DevOps solution of choice for some of the world's biggest companies, including IBM, McKesson, and even Salesforce itself.

What’s the opportunity?

We're looking for a Senior Data Analytics Engineer to join the Internal Platforms team within our Engineering organization and be part of building out the systems that power Gearset as we scale the company.
From its inception, Gearset has had a data-driven approach to building and selling software. Our SaaS platform provides increasing amounts of telemetry as more users engage with our product, our database of customers continues to grow, and our cloud-native back-end systems also provide valuable data that helps teams across the company make better decisions.

You'll be the expert that will take charge of building out our internal data platform to help deliver actionable insights from all this data to our sales, finance, engineering and marketing teams.

As Gearset’s Data Analytics Engineer, you will:

    • Design our data platform and be empowered to make the key decisions around these systems
    • Work with teams across the business to collect and feed data into our platform
    • Build out our data transformation tooling and use it to model the data so it can be readily used to build business-relevant dashboards and reports
    • Partner with stakeholders throughout the business to understand their requirements and help them make best use of the data, providing them with documentation, tooling, guidance and support
    • Use software engineering best practices to govern the data platform, including version control, automated testing and CI/CD

You'll be a good fit if you:

    • Have 5+ years of experience working with data platforms
    • Have strong SQL and data modelling skills
    • Have experience working with cloud-based data analytics platforms, such as BigQuery, Snowflake or Redshift
    • Have an analytical approach to solving problems and architecting end-to-end systems
    • Are enthusiastic about collaborating and using data to help people make decisions
    • Are able to work effectively both in a team and independently

Nice to haves:

    • Experience with data transformation tools and languages, such as dbt, Spark or Python
    • Experience with business intelligence tools, such as Tableau, Looker, or AWS QuickInsight
    • Experience with data integration tools, such as Fivetran or Stitch
    • Experience with DevOps practices and tools, including version control, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing and CI/CD
    • Experience in product ownership roles, understanding the needs of users and prioritising technical work that will efficiently address those needs

A little about our salary, hours and benefits:

    • Salary range between £55,000 and £70,000 depending on experience
    • You'll work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with the option of flexible home working
    • Bupa health care for you and your family
    • Life Insurance and Critical Illness cover
    • Flexible working hours
    • Free lunch when in the office
    • Discounted gym membership, as well as many other wellness benefits

    • Note that you must be based in the UK for this role.
