Stacker is a data journalism company with content that reaches millions of readers each month on Stacker.com as well as across hundreds of publishing partner sites, including MSN, Newsweek, Hearst Newspapers, and more.

We also run Stacker Studio, a native content studio focused on developing authoritative, newsworthy stories for a wide variety of brands.

We are looking for a full-time writer who can meaningfully leverage data and historical context for some of today’s most pressing topics, as well as for a wide range of evergreen features. You will have the opportunity to file assignments across all our verticals, as well as pitch story ideas of your own.

Stacker’s full-time writer will be responsible for:

• Researching, writing, editing, and filing several Stacker stories each week across all verticals
• Working with Stacker’s research team to create content around the data sets that team analyzes (i.e. most expensive zip codes in the U.S., highest-grossing movies of all time)
• Working independently on in-depth research pieces (milestones in women’s history from the last 100 years, a history of trucking in America, major presidential speeches of the last 50 years)
• Updating existing stories for us to republish (updating stats, adding information, deleting dated references)
• Pitching creative, original headlines across all arms of Stacker (original Stacker pieces and content studio clients, both timely and evergreen)

Our ideal candidate has:

• 2-3 years of professional writing experience in an online newsroom and demonstrated comfort with covering a wide array of topics
• The ability to write clean, crisp copy on deadline
• Deep fluency in AP style
• A commitment to objective, insightful reporting
• Excellent research skills that allow you to dive into topics you’re just becoming familiar with (finding information, writing timelines, finding historical context for today’s news)
• The creativity to take any topic and develop original story ideas
• An innate curiosity that yields a broad range of knowledge
• An obsession with all things news, from politics to pop culture
