About us
Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. We are driven by the excitement of building technologies, inventing products, and providing services that change lives. We embrace new ways of doing things, make decisions quickly, and are not afraid to fail. We have the scope and capabilities of a large company, and the spirit and heart of a small one. Together, Amazonians research and develop new technologies from Amazon Web Services to Alexa on behalf of our customers: shoppers, sellers, content creators, and developers around the world. Our mission is to be Earth's most customer-centric company. Our actions, goals, projects, programs, and inventions begin and end with the customer top of mind. You'll also hear us say that at Amazon, it's always "Day 1." What do we mean? That our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon's very first day - to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and focus on delighting our customers.

I recently shared that we’ve started a new team here at Amazon focused on something a little out there: building AI that lets our employees talk to robots. So naturally… we followed it up with a movie trailer. (Kind of.) This video gives a sneak peek into a day in the life of our team based at Lab126 in Sunnyvale. It’s where Alexa got its start—and now, the Alexa+ team is right next door. That’s by design. We’re able to tap into some of the same core technology and people powering that experience to help bring this new one to life. We’re what Amazon calls a two-pizza team—small enough that two pizzas could feed everyone. It’s one of those peculiar practices from the early days that’s stuck around because it works. Small teams mean more ownership, faster learning, and fewer layers to cut through. Our goal? Build an AI solution that powers more generalized robots employees can actually talk to—so they can get help with heavy lifting, repetitive tasks, and other physically demanding parts of the job. It’s early days, but the potential to help ease work for our frontline employees and make our global operations safer is something we’re really excited about. Big thanks to the team for jumping in on this (including the AI narrator voice), and to Greg Bensinger for the great Reuters write-up that digs deeper into what we’re building. Amazon plans to invest £40 billion in the UK over the next three years. This investment builds on Amazon’s 27-year history in the UK, where we've grown to employ over 75,000 people across over 100 sites, reaching every region of the country. This historic investment will create thousands of full-time jobs, including 2,000 jobs at the previously announced state-of-the-art fulfilment centre in Hull, 2,000 jobs at another in Northampton, and additional positions at new sites in the East Midlands and at delivery stations across the country. #AmazonUK #UKInvestment #JobCreation #AmazonNews

🐕 Save this post for when you need a boost 🐕 Did you know that more than 15,000 dogs are registered to come to work at 120+ Amazon offices across the Americas? The program is also available in Australia and Europe, and that number continues to grow as we add more dog-friendly offices. Not only is Amazon customer-obsessed, but we are dog-obsessed too. Amazon has a program called Dogs at Work that helps employees bring their dogs to work in a safe way.
