We do this work at Cultivate because it is essential to retaining talent -- and whether your team functions well determines whether you reach your impact goals or not. Too often, organizations fail to invest in setting up the right conditions for success on their teams. This leads to burnout, turnover, and distracts from accomplishing ambitious missions. The good news is: you have a choice. You can invest in training your team and helping people to grow. You can deepen trust and commitment to the work. If you're stuck in a rut with a dysfunctional team or you're looking to set a fresh foundation to reach even more ambitious goals than last year -- let's talk -- DM Sarah Stern or Robert Jay Ross. https://lnkd.in/gUMEKSrw
Our team just wrapped up a management training series I co-designed alongside the incredible folks at Cultivate / Assembly (big shoutout 🗣️ to Robert Jay Ross & Sarah Stern). Together, we explored communication approaches (DiSC), Radical Candor (love you, Kim Scott), key principles of management psychology, and frameworks for deliberate and artful delegation. I care deeply about management, partly because I’ve been lucky to have some phenomenal managers, but also because I know that the buck starts and stops here. Managers set the tone for expectations, standards, and the culture we want to build. They champion both people and performance. They create clarity, foster accountability, and cultivate an environment where individuals (and our team at large) can thrive. As part of this program, I put together the FWD People Management Pillars to help crystallize these ideas. And I'm loving what this sets the stage for: when we make clear that both managers and managees are respected, supported, and invested in, we can create a culture of feedback, accountability, and real growth. And that. is. exciting. 🤩 Thoughts? Builds? Give it to me!

Really! ✨ Want in to the next one? #2s, senior ops leaders, people & culture-types, and related folk: you're welcome! Founder at Cultivate - On a mission to hire, train, and retain the very best talent in the social impact space.
I keep hearing the same message from my friends that are looking for work: - The market is too crowded - EVERYONE in our sector got laid off or is afraid they might get laid off - Is anyone even hiring right now? While applying to jobs and scanning the jobs boards can be part of your job search process, you can't afford for it to be your ONLY pathway to finding your next role. What if you could position yourself differently to stand out? What if you could leverage your network more effectively to source roles that aren't even publicly posted? What if you could pivot into a different functional role than you've done before? There are way too many talented folks who deserve to be in roles making an impact in this exact moment we're in -- we can't have you sitting on the sidelines. Curious about how to be more strategic with your job search? DM me if you could use a coach in your corner 🫶

🔮 "You have to juggle a lot of balls. Figure out which are glass and which are rubber." So real, now more than ever. Yesterday, Team Assembly (a project of Cultivate) launched our seventh coaching cohort of #2's across the progressive movement. 17 participants with the title #chiefoperatingofficer #coo #chiefofstaff #deputy #managingdirector and more will be working the next 5 weeks to strengthen culture & infrastructure across the sector. Because we can't rebuild and win these critical fights if our orgs & teams aren't set up for success. Our favorite opening exercise involves crowdsourcing the best pieces of #advice these leaders have gathered in their career: 🗺️ "What got you here, won’t get you there." 🫵 "You already have the answers; trust yourself." 👯 "Are you the only person who can do it? No? Then delegate!" 🦜 "No one actually knows what they are doing. We’re all just winging it." 🔍 "Trust but verify." Have you carried some of these yourself? What advice has guided you? 👇 And if networking with these 100+ Assembly alums sounds useful to you, you can sign up to learn about future cohorts here: https://lnkd.in/ghFR9f_y
