This is a first 👀 For me, anyway. I'm hiring for an Intern on my Platform Engineering team. The "first" here is that niche roles like Platform Engineering and Site Reliability Engineering are typically areas you'd only transition into as a Software Engineer or Systems Engineer, after YEARS of being in the industry. While I've hired many engineers in the past at all levels of experience, this is the first time I've seen an internship level role for a niche area of tech like this. I love being in the Platform/SRE space, and aside from the unique and complex challenges it offers, there is something to be said about the relative safety of working in a niche field within a larger -- more saturated -- tech market.
