While a 25+% drop in annual overdose deaths is trending in the right direction, the sad reality is that fatalities (>80,000) remain shockingly high more than two decades into the current epidemic. We need to make treatment affordable and easy for everyone who needs it: https://lnkd.in/eQx-ycMy

When the conversation turns to policies around access, safety, and the future of care, we’re lucky to have leaders like Jessica Rigsby, JD, CHC, shaping the dialogue. She recently moderated a panel at the American Telemedicine Association Nexus Conference that brought together experts to unpack the complex regulatory landscape surrounding remote prescribing. From navigating uncertainty to protecting uninterrupted access to care, the conversation emphasized what’s at stake for patients who rely on telemedicine, especially for opioid use disorder (OUD) treatment. At a time when access to evidence-based care can mean the difference between life and death, Jessica helped spotlight how telehealth can, and must, remain a safe, effective, and equitable lifeline.

Ophelia attended last week’s American Society of Addiction Medicine - ASAM Medicine (ASAM) conference, where we shared new research on recovery capital, the personal, social, and environmental resources that support sustained recovery from opioid use disorder. Our findings: - Patients who entered care with low recovery capital saw meaningful improvement. - Higher baseline recovery capital was linked to longer retention in treatment. It’s further evidence that high-quality, remote OUD care can help patients build the resources they need to stay engaged. Reach out to learn more. As Chief Medical Officer at Ophelia, I see firsthand how Medicaid is a lifeline for our patients- almost 80% of our patients! At Ophelia, our model is designed to remove barriers and make evidence-based treatment accessible to those who need it most. We want to be more accessible than drug dealers for our patients, yet in-network coverage is key to ensure affordability. Medicaid is now the largest payer of addiction treatment in the United States. Without it, millions would lose care. That is why we are committed to not only delivering exceptional care, but also advocating for the policies that make it affordable. Today, I am encouraging everyone in our network—clinicians, advocates, and partners—to join us in protecting Medicaid coverage for addiction treatment. Please consider signing this important petition: Protect Medicaid Coverage Access to affordable, evidence-based treatment saves lives. We are proud to stand with others working to protect it: https://lnkd.in/eKMaDeea

NEW: Transparent referral reporting is here! When a provider refers a patient to Ophelia, it’s a meaningful act of trust. We want to honor that trust by offering more visibility. That’s why we’re excited to roll out new reporting designed to give partners the clarity they’ve never had before while staying compliant with privacy standards: Patient Summary Report: Track individual referrals: intake, treatment start, and current status. Facility Summary Report: After 5+ referrals, get trends on where patients land, where we lose them, and what’s working. More insights on engagement and retention coming soon. Want more detail? We can customize reports to show exactly what you need. Better communication, better coordination, and ultimately, better outcomes for patients.
