    President & COO at Owner

🎉 Exciting news! After 10 years at Compass, building from an idea to an IPO, I'm on to my next adventure: I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve joined Owner.com as President & COO. I’ve spent the last 20 years helping small business entrepreneurs succeed. It's my life's mission. It’s why I loved what we were building at Compass. For my next move, I explored a number of opportunities at the frontier of AI. The biggest trend I saw? The gap between the leading edge of AI and small business owners just keeps widening. What no one seems to be thinking of is how to put the incredible power of AI and cutting edge technologies in the hands of small business owners. That's exactly what Owner is doing, starting with independent restaurants. This company is changing reality for small business entrepreneurs, in the best way. As I met the team, I heard stories of people like Timirie Shibley, the owner of Doo-Dah Diner in Kansas. It’s the most popular diner in town, but Timirie was still getting crushed by big corporations before she found Owner. “Owner is life-changing,” she said, with tears in her eyes. I heard other stories like hers as Adam Guild and Dean Bloembergen took me on a listening tour with their customers. It was plain as day: we all had the same mission of helping small businesses thrive in the digital age. I knew I had to join. Owner’s target customer is “small”, but the collective opportunity – millions of independent business owners – is massive. And the team has done an incredible job of getting to this point. Owner about 3X'd in 2022 and did it again in 2023, while racking up #1 ratings on G2. And they've built an amazing team. The friend who introduced me said his friend joined after having spent years at Notion and Dropbox, and called it, "the best team I've seen in my career." I’ve been similarly impressed. This includes Owner’s incredible investors, including Jack Altman, Jason M. Lemkin, Alex Bard among others. They’re highly engaged and aren’t shy about being superfans of this company. Bottom line – Owner is on a fantastic mission to make sure beloved local businesses thrive in a world where technology and AI will dictate their future. I can’t wait to help them by bringing Owner’s mission to life with this unbelievably talented team. Rob

    Co-founder & CEO, Owner.com (Forbes 30 Under 30, Thiel Fellow)

Exciting news! 🎉 I’m feeling blessed to share Owner.com raised $33,000,000! Details here ⬇️ We’re using the cash to help restaurant owners fight back. They need our help. Because just 5 years ago, you’d succeed as a restaurant if you provided great food and great service. But that’s not enough anymore. The world has shifted online. 📲 Restaurants now need to provide great food, great service, AND a great online experience. Failing online kills many restaurants — because success now depends on things like website conversion, SEO, reviews, and a great online ordering UX. Huge corporations like Domino’s have dominated in this shift. 🏦 They can afford to spend billions of dollars to weaponize it as an unfair advantage. How are mom-and-pops supposed to compete with that? 🧑🍳 They need a platform to level the playing field. That’s where Owner comes in. You can think of Owner as being like Shopify meets HubSpot, but for restaurant owners. They use our platform to do everything they need to succeed online. We are their website builder, CRM, marketing automation platform, and more in one. 💰 Round details: The round came together from our existing investors. There were some big names involved. We posted the details on our site. Huge welcome to our new investors, including… Scott Belsky, Mike Vichich, Andy Pforzheimer, Horsley Bridge, Activant, Arash Ferdowsi, Guillermo Rauch. And special thanks to the people who believed in us early, including: Jason Lemkin (SaaStr), Alex Bard (Redpoint), Jack Altman (Alt Capital), Cory Levy, Joshua Browder, Masha Bucher, Julian Shapiro, Naval Ravikant, Kimbal Musk, Sean Rad, Dylan Field. When I started Owner as a 17-year-old high school dropout, I never thought I’d be able to raise money. So, I am eternally grateful to our investors for believing in us. We take it seriously and are committed to operating with continued discipline and responsibility. I need to shoutout the great team at Owner.com. You deserve the credit for getting us here. I thank God every morning for the opportunity to get to build this with each of you. We have a really special team, and we’re just getting started. Excited to share what we build next! ➡️ If you want learn more about our business, we posted the investor memo on our site and posted a video with the details. Check it out!

You might be sabotaging your deals by incessantly pushing your prospects, thanks to our friend, Psychological Reactance. So how can you move pipeline without triggering massive resistance in your buyers? One tool is what I call “Off Ramping,” which is the counterintuitive process of inviting your prospects to say “No.” 😲 On this episode of 30 Minutes to President's Club, I talk about understanding Reactance and using Off Ramping to move prospects more effectively down the funnel. We also talk about structuring your sales process in a manner that makes prospects want to continue conversations. Finally, I share a framework for handling knee jerks and early interruptions in cold calling. Thanks to Nick and Armand for hosting me! I had a blast jamming with you guys. #sales #coldcalling #salestactics
