For WM engineers Radhika Sowrirajan and Taylor Baker, participating in last week's "Girls in Science" event presented by WOW! Children's Museum was coming full-circle for Radhika and forging new ground for Taylor. The "Girls in Science" event in Lafayette, CO inspired girls ages 3 - 8 to explore the wonders of science through hands-on activities that represented each sponsor's field of work. Of the variety of industries and companies represented at the event, WM was the Engineering and Coding sponsor. Radhika and Taylor brought a Snap Circuit toy and used that to show the basics of coding while talking about how that would relate to coding a program for automation. Participants also got to build their own circuits and see the result in real-time! Radhika built out a fun interactive program for kids to make their cookies where there was a cookie that 'popped out' from behind the computer after it was done baking. The kids enjoyed playing with the snap circuits and "making" their own cookies all while learning about what engineering and automation is! Radhika and Taylor said it was a lot of fun to be a part of inspiring young girls and teaching them about our kind of science in the automation world. Radhika got to relive her days as a young mom taking her son to the Children's Museum, and Taylor forged new ground by being an example to young girls, an opportunity she didn't have at their age. Thank you both for being such great examples to future leaders in engineering and automation! #teamwme #girlsinstem #wowchildrensmuseum

The Wunderlich-Malec Engineering, Inc. (WME) Boston team is excited to embark on a transformative digitalization journey alongside one of our clients to integrate cutting-edge manufacturing and data analytics technologies into a new manufacturing line, elevating efficiency and performance. The first phase of the project involves integrating islands of Automation systems, instruments, process, and analytical equipment into a Process Control System (PCS) to monitor, control, orchestrate, and collect critical manufacturing data. Our team leverages a combination of I/O and communication protocols, including traditional I/O, OPC UA, REST API, and Modbus TCP, to link the shop floor instruments, process, and analytical equipment to the advanced hybrid PCS, comprised of Sepasoft Batch, Inductive Automation Ignition, Canary Historian, and Rockwell PLC. WME deploys Sepasoft Batch to orchestrate the manufacturing recipe, ensuring manufacturing consistency and repeatability from start to finish. Critical process data is collected in the Canary Historian, and users can access the historical data through the HMI terminal or the Axiom data visualization and analytics tool. PCS maintains bi-directional communication with the PAT management software. This integration not only orchestrates the data analyses at the right time during the manufacturing process but also establishes a foundation for future feedback control enhancements. We're excited to be a strong partner with our client to achieve the project objectives. If you're interested in exploring how Wunderlich-Malec teams can enhance and support your digitalization and automation initiatives, we encourage you to reach out to any one of our business managers. We're enthusiastic about the prospect of contributing to the success of your project and ensuring a seamless integration of state-of-the-art technologies into your manufacturing processes. #teamwme
