The Backbook Risk team is responsible for Affirm’s backbook strategy, forecasting and performance monitoring globally. The team works cross-functionally with Credit Risk, Compliance, Machine Learning, Product, Engineering, Operations, Growth Analytics, and Finance teams to define and ensure execution of the Backbook Risk strategy to assert adherence to the Risk Appetite.

This role requires extensive use of data analytics to derive insights and develop risk strategies, collaborating with cross-functional partners to manage the company’s backbook and improve customer repayments. The full stack senior analyst will work with the Product team to develop new products and features, with the Machine Learning and Engineering team to develop new forecasting models and risk management capabilities, and with the Resolutions team to execute risk and resolution strategies

What you will do 

-  In collaboration with Machine Learning, Credit Risk, Growth Analytics and Finance teams, develop and continually refine initiatives to improve the performance of the backbook

-  Perform rigorous quantitative analysis to monitor the efficiency of launched initiatives, including measuring impact to the company’s profitability; draft analytical experiment plans to be used for A/B testing of new initiatives in the repayments space.

-  Own end-to-end risk analytical workflow to support data-driven decisions and customer impact initiatives for repayments and collections.

-  Support and enhance repayments efforts through technical analysis; this includes reviewing and revising KPIs that track the performance of ongoing efforts, developing and maintaining forecasting models, designing experiments for A/B testing of various initiatives, and working cross-functionally to formulate strategy

-  Solve interesting credit and user segmentation challenges with alternative data and advanced analytics.

 - Enhance backbook and repayments tracking & strategy for Affirm’s growing international presence; set up and monitor KPIs and devise strategies for different markets based on analytical insights


What we look for

-  Passion to redefine the lending and financial industry for the better

-  3-5 years of work experience in risk analytics and/or modeling role within Fintech/Banking

-  Proficient in SQL, experience with Python and data visualization tools

- Proven understanding of risk fundamentals (experience with both consumer and business risk management practices, an understanding of industry risk trends)

- Ability to communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

- Experience in statistical modeling in a professional setting preferred

-  Bachelor’s or graduate degree in a quantitatively rigorous subject area like engineering, statistics, math, finance, economics, computer science

Employees new to Affirm or promoted into a new role, typically begin in the min to mid range.
CAN base pay range per year:
Min: $105,300
Mid: $131,600
Max: $157,900
