As a Customer Data Engineer (CDE) with Rackspace DBaaS, you will have the opportunity to troubleshoot and resolve various customer issues related to MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis, and other databases. Working with the customers, you will learn their challenges, help triage, and implement solutions to their technical challenges. 

You will perform technical work that requires coordination, testing, and scheduling. Sometimes, immediate debugging and resolution are necessary to resolve an urgent request. All while ensuring data integrity and stability are the top priority for the customer. You will also interact daily with both colleagues and customers via support tickets and Microsoft Teams to answer general questions or requests. 

You will interact with members of our Support organization, Technical Customer Success Managers, and Site Reliability Engineers to meet the demands of our customers. Leveraging your expertise, you will provide guidance and recommendations internally and externally to meet the needs of our customers. 
 
Responsibilities:
    
·       Database installs, upgrades, patching, security, troubleshooting and issue resolution, backup procedures, and performance tuning.
·       Support backup and recovery processes.
·       Perform database health checks and maintenance.
·       Work closely with the application team to understand planned changes, perform impact analysis, and provide feedback.
·       Deploy automation to improve efficiency.
·       Consult and troubleshoot different technologies and understand how they interact together (MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis, Hadoop, etc.)
·       Regression testing for production deployments.
·       Due to the 24x7 operations of the business, they must be able to work a flexible work schedule, which will include nights, weekends, holidays, emergency escalations, etc.
 
 
Required Skills:
 
·       Strong understanding of MongoDB database concepts and structures.
·       Strong knowledge of MongoDB Sharded architecture.
·       Technical knowledge of Linux.
·       Strong scripting experience in Unix/Shell Scripting, Python, and JavaScript.
·       Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
·       Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
·       Ability to make appropriate decisions relative to data integrity and stability.
·       Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
 
 
 
Nice to Haves:
 
·       Proven experience implementing and supporting enterprise database systems.
·       Strong understanding of the Linux operating system.
·       Exposure toMongoDB , Redis and/or Elasticsearch is a plus.
 
Experience:
 
·       Total experience should be 6 to 12 yrs ( hands-on database administration experience, preferably MongoDB.)
 

Education:
 
·       Bachelor’s degree in software development, database programming, or computer engineering is preferred. (BTech, BCA, BSc, BE, etc.)
 
·       MongoDB hands on experience is must.
·       Proven experience implementing and supporting enterprise database systems.
·       Strong understanding of the Linux operating system.
·       Exposure to Redis and/or Elasticsearch is a plus.
