About The Team

The Data Platform team builds, delivers data and tooling for Scribd customers. We deliver technologies which enable other teams to build new and better solutions. The team is remote-first and is spread across time zones ranging from Pacific Time in North America to Eastern European Time in Ukraine. As a team we empower Scribd to effectively leverage Data to deliver customer value. You will be part of a team that designs, operates and implements tooling and provide access to data that empowers our customers which includes platform engineers, business teams and other internal Stakeholders.

About the Role

•Scribd is searching for a Data Engineer I to join the Data platform team. The Data Engineer will be responsible for implementation and support of our Data systems and services. 
•You will be involved in Building, troubleshooting or optimizing our business critical data pipelines and also work with our core-infra and platform teams to implement jobs to scale our consumption and processing of our large data sets
•You will work closely with other senior engineers to design and then implement and support our various Data pipelines, data models and other Infra and Platform projects around data.

Minimum Requirements

•2-3 years experience in developing, executing, monitoring and troubleshooting Data pipelines and workflows in cloud Environment
•Ability to read and write code in one or more languages including Go, Python, Ruby, and/or Scala code
•Familiarity with Cloud and other big data and distributed data processing technologies and environments
•Strong written and verbal communication skills (we're a remote team!)
•Software development background
•Familiarity with git and common software development practices
•Ability to write tests
•Capable of reading and understanding the code in order to participate in the code review process
•Experience with CI/CD concepts and tooling
•Some SQL development Experience(any flavor)
•Ability to participate in technical design discussions within your team, and across partner teams
 
Desired Skills

•As a Data Engineer you have a background around data and understanding of data requirements
•An understanding of  Distributed Data processing and a Distributed data warehouse
•Experience working to improve 24/7 on-call rotations, reducing alert fatigue, and improving automation
•An appetite to learn and grow professionally
•Collaborate with cross functional teams to understand data needs.
•A bonus if you have any experience working with DataBricks, Airflow or any similar Distributed Data warehouse and orchestration tooling.
