Lirio is a technology/software company that provides expertise in a variety of behavioral science domains (e.g., behavioral economics, social psychology, public health), data science, and machine learning to drive consumer engagement, close gaps in preventive and chronic care, and promote health and well-being across an individual’s lifespan. Lirio’s behavior change AI platform unites behavioral science with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver Precision Nudging health interventions. Precision Nudging is the application of behavioral science to health interventions personalized by AI to each individual that overcome barriers to action at the right time and place for scalable, behavior change.
This is a remote role with the opportunity to be hybrid if located in Tennessee. All applicants must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
Position Summary
The Data Scientist is responsible for the development and communication of reports, insights, narratives, and visualizations related to the performance of Precision Nudging for healthcare outcomes. The Data Scientist will work closely with behavioral scientists, computer scientists, machine learning engineers, and data engineers to develop methods and tools that enable the derivation of insights into the efficacy of Lirio behavior change programs, patient engagement execution, and machine learning implementations. Tasking for this position includes exploratory data analysis, statistical & data model development, code development, data visualization development, cost/usage analysis and prediction using statistical methods and general contributions to data science, analytics and reporting efforts. The Data Scientist is a customer-facing position and requires strong skills in the communication and interpretation of daa for non-technical audiences, as well as strong data storytelling abilities to deliver compelling descriptions of Lirio Precision Nudging performance. Additionally, the Data Scientist is expected to embrace Lirio’s culture of cross-team collaboration and will work closely with Lirio leadership, other data professionals at Lirio and the Lirio Growth team to shape our client-facing narratives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Data and Analytics Interpretation, Communication, and Storytelling
- Build and deliver customer-facing reports and insights that highlight the behavioral, healthcare and business outcomes attributable to Lirio’s Precision Nudging
- Proactively identify and investigate data trends, anomalies, and opportunities, translating findings into actionable recommendations.
- Actively contribute to Lirio’s customer reports, marketing materials, and thought leadership through the development of compelling analytical narratives and visualizations.
- Serve as the essential “interpretation layer” between our Data Engineering team and Lirio’s internal stakeholders, translating raw data, machine learning outputs, and complex data structures and analytical models into understandable insights that connect technical results to business strategy and client impact and enable data-driven product improvement.
- Present complex data insights to technical and non-technical audiences, including clients, prospective partners, and senior leadership, via the creation and delivery of engaging presentations
Data Analytics Development:
- Translate complex technical challenges into clear data requirements, identifying optimal ways to answer critical questions and reporting needs within Lirio’s Analytics Data Model.
- Develop and support robust, user-friendly tools and dashboards using tools including data visualization that empower internal and external users with self-service data access and insights.
- Design and implement solutions that ensure data accuracy, consistency, and enable efficient reporting.
- Implement changes to the reporting data processes and workflows.
- Maintain data governance and security/privacy standards when analyzing sensitive client data
- Design, implement, test and deploy production software in compliance with Lirio’s software development practices and methodologies, including an emphasis on quality and security.
Data Science & Advanced Modeling
- Engineer, transform, and validate datasets for modeling, ensuring high data quality and reproducibility.
- Design, build, and deploy predictive and prescriptive models that inform healthcare, behavioral, and business outcomes.
- Apply advanced statistical methods (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, causal inference, and time-series forecasting) to uncover deeper insights from large and complex datasets.
- Conduct experiments and A/B testing to measure the causal impact of interventions and optimize Lirio’s Precision Nudging strategies.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering to build scalable pipelines that support advanced analytics and machine learning.
- Monitor and maintain model performance over time, proactively identifying opportunities to retrain and improve accuracy.
- Identify opportunities to enhance reporting tools with predictive and prescriptive analytics, embedding machine learning insights into dashboards and customer-facing deliverables.
- Communicate model assumptions, limitations, and results to both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring transparency and trust in data-driven decisions.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Serve as a trusted expert, providing insightful guidance and strategic recommendations to clients, vendors, and internal teams on a wide range of Data Science initiatives and strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a keen ability to articulate technical details and business implications to various stakeholders.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- 5+ years of experience creating data analytics methods and tools.
- Fewer years of experience with higher level of education will be considered
- Experience working with domain experts to analyze complex datasets
- Experience with data science and data science libraries
- Experience with healthcare data modeling, data literacy, data warehousing, etc.
- Experience with data visualization and industry leading BI tools
- Experience building scalable/repeatable analytic processes and workflows
- Understanding of ethical use of data and data governance
