Are you excited about solving real-world computer vision problems that involve millions of smart cameras from mobile devices? Are you interested in developing and advancing state-of-the-art computer vision and deep learning algorithms? This team is responsible for building large scale machine learning models for 2D/3D scene understanding, object detection, and activity recognition (e.g. delivery detection).

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with business partners to develop innovative solutions to meet objectives utilizing cutting edge techniques and tools.
• Effectively communicate the analytics approach and how it will meet and address objectives to business partners.
• Advocate and educate on the value of data-driven decision making; focus on the “how and why” of solutioning.
• Lead analytic approaches; integrate solutions collaboratively into applications and tools with data engineers, business leads, analysts and developers.
• Research and develop analysis methods that extend the Media Analysis Framework, including video/image/audio processing and machine learning methods, to extract meaning and produce timestamped metadata from video content.
• Develop and test software components that implement your analysis methods for integration into production systems. Work closely with other researchers and engineers to fit components into well-established workflows and systems.
• Lead research in one or more of the following areas: Deep Learning, Computer Vision, and Video Analytics.
• Work with other Technical Leads, Product Managers and Business Partners to lead development of prototypes that demonstrate Research work, help with Product Discovery and integrate research output into engineering code base.
• Work with other researchers, engineers, product managers, and business partners to rapidly prototype algorithms for proof-of-concept demonstrations.
• Collaborate closely with team members within and outside of research to advance the capabilities of the MAF system and to further the team’s collective knowledge.
• Keeps track of developments in field both in academia and in industry. Attending relevant conferences and publishing research results is encouraged.
• Use data science and machine learning methods to bootstrap new functionalities.
• Engineer features by using your business acumen to find new ways to combine disparate internal and external data sources.
• Share your passion for Data Science with the broader enterprise community; identify and develop long-term processes, frameworks, tools, methods and standards.
• Collaborate, coach, and learn with a growing team of experienced Data Scientists.
• Stay connected with external sources of ideas through conferences and community engagements.

• Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, or a related technical discipline; PhD degree or equivalent industry experience is preferred.
• 4+ years of Data Science and Machine Learning experience required.
• Strong programming and software development skills, and familiarity with Python, and deep learning frameworks (Keras, Tensorflow, PyTorch, Caffe).
• Practical and educational experience in machine learning and computer vision is expected. Experience with nearest neighbor search, vector databases, image matching, and image retrieval is strongly desired.
• Proficiency with Machine Learning concepts and modeling techniques to solve problems such as clustering, classification, regression, anomaly detection, simulation and optimization problems on large scale data sets.
• Experience with AWS is a plus.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to understand business partner needs and deliver solutions.
• Bias for action, with the ability to deliver outstanding results through task prioritization and time management.
• Experience in signal processing, video encoding and analysis, and/or deep learning isalso beneficial. Familiarity and experience with image processing and deep learning frameworks and tools, such as OpenCV, Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Caffe, is a plus.
