Who You Are:
- We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Platform Development Manager to lead and coordinate the design, development, and maintenance of Getty Images’ data platform. As a key member of our technology team, you will play a meaningful role in crafting and optimizing our data infrastructure to support our business needs and drive data-driven decision-making.
Your Next Challenge:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Collaborate with senior leadership and partner teams to define the strategy, aligning it with business objectives and growth plans.
- Identify opportunities to improve data capabilities and propose innovative solutions, reliability, accessibility, and utilization.
- Lead by example, pursue success with determination, and encourage others to follow.
- Team Management:
- Manage a team of data engineers and platform developers providing mentorship, guidance, and encouraging a collaborative work environment.
- Support team members in their career planning, development, and growth.
- Manage and prioritize optimally to ensure timely delivery of data projects while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Platform Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and robust data platform services and tools, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security.
- Drive the implementation of data pipelines, ETL processes, data integration, and transformation tasks to support various business functions.
- Drive design and development of enterprise data warehouse and data analytics capabilities optimizing for speed, ease of access, reuse, and integration across the business.
- Data Governance and Quality:
- Establish and implement data governance standards, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations and industry standard methodologies.
- Implement data quality measures and supervising mechanisms to guarantee the accuracy and integrity of the data stored in the platforms.
- Drive enterprise data catalog development and integration automating data governance process and capabilities.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Partner with multi-functional teams, including data science, analytics, and business units, to understand requirements and deliver data solutions that address their needs.
- Communicate sophisticated technical concepts to non-technical team members, fostering understanding and alignment.
- Technology Evaluation and Adoption:
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, implementing standard processes and platform development.
- Evaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and technologies that can enhance the data platform's capabilities and performance.
- Project Management:
- Define project scopes, timelines, and resource requirements for data platform initiatives.
- Monitor project progress, supervise key performance indicators, and address any issues that may arise during development and production support.
What You'll Need:
- Demonstrable experience (8+ years) in data engineering, platform development, and data management, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Strong expertise in database design, data modeling, ETL processes, and data integration.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, and experience with data processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Hive, Spark).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services.
- Experience with SQL and No-SQL (Redis, Mongo, Dynamo, Neo4j, etc.).
- Experience with enterprise data warehousing systems (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, etc.).
- Familiarity with distributed steaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis, Flink, etc.).
- Experience with message broker software (RMQ, MSQ, etc.).
- Experience with workflow management tools such as Airflow, NiFi, AWS Step Functions, etc.
- Experience with analytics, data visualization tools (Looker, Quick Sight,) is a plus.
- Working experience with Terraform and Docker is valued.
- Proficiency in working with Git.
- Experience working and deploying in Linux environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and provide innovative solutions.
- Good communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Experience with data governance, data privacy regulations, and security standard processes is a plus.
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Mental and Physical Demands:
- A quiet location with reliable high-speed internet connectivity, environment suitable for professional work (desk, chair, external monitor, etc.)
- Frequent communication with others to exchange information
- Frequent sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing; Time of each will vary
- Constant operation of computer and frequent usage of other office machinery, including (but not limited to) calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc
- Constant assessment of accuracy and thoroughness of the work assignment
