Our Go to Market Analytics team is made up of Data Analysts who develop reporting, insights, and serve as a consultative partner to our Sales and Marketing organizations. We're seeking a dynamic Principal Data Analyst to support our marketing team. While you should have significant experience with Growth Marketing (particularly Lifecycle & Web), you may find yourself working with Product, Demand Gen, Brand, International or other marketing teams in a typical week. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Go to Market Analytics, you'll collaborate most closely with the Web & Lifecycle teams, our analysts, and our data and analytics engineering team to provide crucial insights and analytics support to drive effective decision-making and optimize marketing spend. As a leader within the Marketing Analytics function, you'll play a pivotal role in pushing the collective team forward, upskilling on experimentation best practices and advanced analytics in Python. 

Utilizing Tableau for dashboard creation, notebook tools for ad hoc analyses, and crafting decks for larger commercial storytelling, you'll also play a crucial role in supporting marketing testing analysis. As the commercial partner, you'll provide insights through data-driven recommendations to propel our business forward and have an important role to play to ensure that we have the right data, tooling and strategy to provide support to the team.

A day in the life of a Principal Data Analyst at Calendly

Utilize your extensive knowledge of marketing to deliver value through reports, various BI tools, and in-depth analyses. Leverage your experience in data and analytics to tackle complex questions and support business owners on experimentation, data collection, and analysis. Take ownership of building weekly performance reporting and work towards automating the reporting package.

On a typical day, you will be working on:

  • Strategically partner with the Growth Marketing teams, including Lifecycle and Web, to fulfill their data needs and optimize marketing campaigns.
  • Optimize customer journey and web performance through in-depth analysis of user lifecycle data, website analytics, and performance metrics. 
  • Collaborate with Lifecycle and Web Growth Marketing teams to develop and maintain dashboard reporting that tracks campaign performance, facilitating self-serve capabilities where appropriate.
  • Connect data across marketing channels and areas of expertise to demonstrate impact through a full user funnel, providing comprehensive insights and recommendations.
  • Lead the development of analytics specialties within the Marketing Analytics team, focusing on areas like experimentation methodologies and advanced Python programming techniques.
  • Act as the second-in-command within the Marketing Analytics team, ensuring high-quality deliverables, providing mentorship, and contributing to overall team success.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of different marketing strategies and tactics, providing insights to enhance targeting, messaging, and overall campaign performance.
  • Catalog marketing and user data in dbt and contribute to shaping our new data model in BigQuery, improving overall data infrastructure.
  • Assist with ad hoc data analysis requests from various marketing teams, demonstrating flexibility and strategic support as needed.

What do we need from you?

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in analytics or data science, specializing in growth marketing, lifecycle management, and web analytics.
  • Expertise in experimentation methodologies, including A/B testing, multivariate testing, and statistical analysis, to drive growth strategies.
  • Proficient in Python programming for developing advanced analytics solutions and automation scripts.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, relational databases, and data analysis/visualization tools like Tableau and Hex.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, translating data insights into actionable growth strategies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, conveying technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven leadership experience, fostering cross-functional collaboration and mentoring junior team members.
  • Ability to translate detailed data into clear, actionable recommendations, bridging technical and business perspectives.
  • Track record of building custom reporting and dashboards for impactful visualizations.
  • Inquisitive mindset for uncovering insights and opportunities through data, driving continuous improvement.
  • Authorization to work lawfully in the United States of America is required, as Calendly does not engage in immigration sponsorship at this time.
