B3 Group is looking for a Senior Cloud Data Engineer to support the Digital Transformation Center (DTC) for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This role will be responsible for working with stakeholders to communicate and model how data insights can drive business needs. The Senior Engineer will be responsible for preparing realistic project implementation plans which highlight major milestones and deliverables leveraging standard methods and work planning tools. This role will also be responsible for integrating various Azure services to move and transform large volumes of data efficiently and other engineering tasks.

A B3 Technical Sr. Analyst will apply expert systems analysis and design techniques to complex enterprise systems. They will have broad knowledge of data sources/flow, interactions of complex systems, and capabilities/limitations of systems software and computer equipment. The B3 Technical Sr. Analyst will be able to establish frameworks for new computer systems from feasibility studies to post implementation evaluation, recognize probable conflicts and integrate diverse data sources. They will provide innovative solutions for a variety of complex problems, and prepare overall project recommendations.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use Azure Data Factory, COSMOS, Azure SQL, Azure Synapse and Data Lakes and Data Warehouse tools and technology.
  • Find opportunities to provide business value via advanced analytical methods: statistical analysis, natural language processing, etc.
  • Define and build data integration processes to be used across the organization.
  • Build conceptual and logical data models for stakeholders and management.
  • Analyze and validate data accuracy of report results.
  • Work directly with management understand requirement; and propose and develop best business solution that enables effective decision-making, and drive business objectives.
  • Recognizes potential issues and risks during the analytics project implementation and can suggest realistic mitigation strategies.
  • Create and enhance data structures of various kinds (relational, unstructured, etc.)
  • Develop reports, visualizations, and other means to make the data useful.
  • Continuously learn about leading-edge practice in data science and data engineering.

In order to be successful in this position, we expect you to have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related area.
  • 5+ years of relevant data engineering experience, including experience in working with cloud database environments, specifically Azure.
  • Experience in a Thought Leadership role.
  • Experience with modern data structure design and data engineering.
  • Experience in improving performance of databases and data processing.
  • Understanding of various analytical methods, their abilities, and their limitations.
  • Experience evaluating analytical models for accuracy, bias, and effectiveness.
  • Knowledge to improve data integrity, privacy and security.
  • A drive to learn and share knowledge about emerging data tools and practices.
  • Must be able to use a computer. 
  • Must be able to communicate both verbally and in written form.
  • Must be able to obtain a government security clearance.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must have reliable internet service that allows for effective telecommuting.

Desired / Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and/or other federal organizations.
  • Experience with VA’s VIP Process for software development.
  • Experience with Agile methodology and Scrum approach.
