Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Architect to both design our enterprise data strategy and lead the practical development of its core components. As a senior technical leader, you will apply your deep expertise in data engineering to build and optimize scalable data pipelines, integrations, and robust data models that solve complex business challenges.
While you will set the architectural vision and serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, a significant part of your role will involve hands-on implementation and coding. You will act as a technical mentor, championing best practices in data quality, governance, and ethical data handling.A key aspect of this role involves partnering with upstream process teams to influence and improve data generation workflows. You will proactively identify opportunities to enhance data accuracy, completeness, and usability at the source, ensuring that downstream analytics and decision-making are powered by high integrity data.
You will actively contribute to the engineering efforts required to build a cohesive data ecosystem, while also driving alignment across teams on data standards, privacy requirements, and governance policies.


Responsibilities

  • Data Governance and Privacy: Initiates Design and implement scalable, reusable, and discoverable data pipelines and integrations across diverse systems, ensuring alignment with business goals and data governance policies.
  • Data Model Evaluation: Resolve data integrity issues in collaboration with engineering and analytics teams. Promote upstream changes for long-term data quality and consistency.
  • Develop Analytical Frameworks and Tools: Create prototype data models and tools to support business decision-making. Evaluate and improve existing models and analytical techniques, anticipating risks such as data leakage and methodological limitations.
  • Drive Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Track advances in data engineering, architecture, and analytics. Adapt emerging technologies and methodologies to improve performance, scalability, and maintainability of data systems.
  • Customer/Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs, define data requirements, and deliver actionable insights. Lead conversations to interpret analytical results and articulate data-driven strategies.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis 
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 5+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis 
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 9+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 7+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis o OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 5+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis.
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience with using PowerBI, SQL, Python, Workday, Sales Force, or other data analytics tools.
  • 4+ years consulting experience


Compensation Range

The base salary range for this job is USD $96,400.00 - USD $255,700.00 /Yr.

These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
