Job Description

What You’ll Do

  • Use operational and technical skills to support department objectives.

  • Follow audit methodology to provide analytical support on audit reviews for various functions, leveraging internal and external data as well as industry, economic, and market information for analytics and/or model development.

  • Use big data and advanced analytics techniques to drive the audit and participate in client interviews, create process flow and narrative, review business processes, identify and assess controls, test key controls, find development, and communicate with clients to develop and follow up on actions.

How You’ll Do It

  • Independently complete assigned audits/audit tasks using department tools, pursuant to department guidelines and within established timetables to deliver high-quality results.

  • Use quantitative skills and tools for data preparation, including sampling, data pulling, aggregation, and other data preparation treatments.

  • Perform simulations and general ad hoc analyses and testing to provide risk-related insights.

  • Highlight potential findings for discussion with audit lead/supervisor and clients.

  • Continue to develop skillsets by meeting required training and obtaining advanced degrees and/or certification pursuant to department guidelines.

  • Maintain a high level of understanding and competency in statistical and analytical principles, tools, and advanced techniques, including knowledge in UNIX/AWS, programming skills in SAS/R/SQL/Python, and any other statistical software used in Discover.

  • Develop and implement quantitative solutions that leverage structured and unstructured data from internal and external sources.

  • Analyze and mine large quantities of data to find patterns and insights.

Qualifications You’ll Need

The Basics: 

  • Bachelor's degree in applied sciences, engineering, statistics, economics, computer science data science, or related field

  • 2+ years of experience in analytics, audit, finance, risk management, business, IT, predictive analytics, fraud analytics, modeling, or related field

  • With a Master's degree or Ph.D., 1+ years of experience in analytics, audit, finance, risk management, business, IT, predictive analytics, fraud analytics, modeling, or related field

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Ph.D. in applied sciences, engineering, statistics, economics, computer science data science, or related field

  • Master's degree in applied sciences, engineering, statistics, economics, computer science data science, or related field

  • AWS, machine learning, data visualization related certifications

  • Business, CAP, Six Sigma, risk, STEM, audit, or related certifications
