Our mission in Merchant Services, Retail is to help retailers everywhere thrive in an e-commerce reality.
As e-commerce becomes more and more crucial to an overall retail strategy, retailers must adapt and Shopify is uniquely positioned to help. We have developed world class retail Point-of-Sale (POS) products that have the power to transform retailers’ physical stores and businesses from offline to omnichannel. We’re looking for someone to help us get these products in the hands of merchants everywhere. Together, we’ll make commerce work for local communities and make commerce better for everyone.
For the Senior Data Science Manager, Retail Growth role, we’re looking for someone who will:
- Help drive customer acquisition, growth and activation to help us help merchants around the world
Use data to gain insights and drive decisions in growing a customer base
Lead a large team across multiple time zones and work cohesively to achieve shared goals
Partner closely with product growth leaders in Product, Engineering, UX and marketing to define growth strategy for Shopify retail
Identify, implement and measure new growth levers and product features through data analysis, product ideation, and experimentation to optimize product experiences
Lead a culture of understanding and experimentation defined by quantitative acumen, deep user empathy and rigorous A/B testing
Define and drive implementation of best practices in Data Engineering, Product Analytics and Machine Learning in alignment with business goals
Leverage deep industry knowledge to create broad awareness of the possibilities using data
Qualifications
You will need to have:
5+ years managing highly-technical teams of Data Scientists, Engineers and Analysts
Strong track record of driving successful product growth strategy through a combination of data analysis, product ideation, and experimentation
Gifted communicator with strong focus on communicating in clear and compelling ways to audiences of many non-technical backgrounds
Applied experience working with large datasets both as an individual contributor and a leader
Familiarity with design and analysis of controlled experiments (A/B testing)
Hands-on experience with data querying languages (e.g. SQL)
Experience leading managers and senior individual contributors
Deep understanding of the Python programming language (strongly preferred)
