Job Description

The Data Engineering data team owns and drives the foundational data platform for measurement and reporting systems. The team is custodian of all of the business data and metrics, and the guarantor of their fidelity and completeness. The team charter is to provide interfaces and guidance for all aspects of Wish data.

You will need a team that will own the data foundation and governance of Wish by building scalable data pipelines. A successful person in this role will own major components of the data landscape, drive alignment with other teams, guide architecture and design within the team and influence it outside. As a senior manager of the core data team:

What you'll be doing:

  • Your team will work closely with partners throughout the company, understand their needs and provide key datasets and insights to guide their roadmaps 
  • You'll drive the vision and roadmap of Data Engineering to speed up Wish’s data-driven decision making process 
  • You will define and manage SLA's for all data sets and processes running in production. 
  • You'll design and build trusted, reliable and timely datasets, metrics and ETL pipelines that are critical to the health and direction of the company
  • You'll help develop and advocate for data democratization, self-serve services and tools, roadmap and prioritization process, and more
  • You’ll mentor and guide the professional and technical development of your team members. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field. 
  • 8+ years of experience in software development, ideally focusing on big data processing and distributed systems.
  • 2+ years of experience as a technical lead or a manager 
  • Proficient in Python, Airflow and SQL. 
  • Knowledge of the big data ecosystem, e.g. Hive, MapReduce, Presto, etc. and internals. 
  • Track record of delivering high-impact products in broadly defined subject domains. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to present to both technical and non-technical audiences 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with public cloud technologies in Amazon Web Services, Databricks
  • Experience with ETL pipelines 
  • Familiarity with workflow management systems like airflow 
  • Exposure to machine learning and data science

The estimated base salary range for this position varies by the candidate's location as follows:

  • Candidates located in California: $207,000 - $291,500 annually
  • Candidates located in New York and Washington: $233,000 – $291,500 annually
  • Candidates located in Colorado: $180,000 - $225,000 annually
  • For states not listed, the estimated base salary range for this position starts around $180,000 annually


Please note that individual total compensation for this position will be determined at the Company's sole discretion and may vary based on several factors, including but not limited to, location, skill level, years and depth of relevant experience, qualifications and other business considerations.
