The Marketing Strategy and Performance team at GitLab is responsible for informing go-to-market strategies and tactics, evaluating the impact and efficiency of marketing and guiding decisions at all levels of the marketing organization at GitLab.

We do this by leveraging the GitLab values and using our time effectively when delivering high-quality data analysis, dashboards and models to solve problems or answer questions that matter for the business and our stakeholders.

The Senior Marketing Data Analyst role at GitLab is a hybrid role: part data analyst, part data scientist, part marketing strategist. This role will require an inquisitive, business-oriented mindset with the technical capability to produce reliable and actionable data insights or self-service data tools.

What you'll do in this role 

  • Develop deep understanding of GitLab’s marketing audiences, channels, tactics and data
  • Partner with marketing leadership to make well-informed decisions - supplying reliable data, relevant insight and actionable recommendations
  • Work closely with marketing teams to scope, design, execute, measure and improve the impact of marketing within GitLab
  • Assist with budgeting, quarterly and annual planning, go to market strategy
  • Design, execute and extract insights on marketing performance from attribution models, experiments and marketing mix models
  • Analyse, wrangle and visualise large amounts of data across various sources
  • Represent the team in cross-functional settings with the goal to drive broader business outcomes
  • Work with 3rd party agencies in areas such as paid media activation and web analytics implementation
  • Model GitLab’s values, embrace the handbook and ‘dog-fooding’ our product
  • Craft code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale database environment

What we're looking for 

  • Significant experience working as a data analyst within marketing or a related field (such as digital, ecommerce, customer (CRM), B2B sales or product analytics) bridging the gap between data and the needs of stakeholders
  • Work experience in a B2B SaaS technology company would be an advantage
  • Hands-on experience working with SQL in analytical data warehouses (we use  Snowflake SQL) and in BI technologies (like Tableau)
  • Statistical or econometrics training with an understanding of how to apply to marketing data
  • Experience using Python, R or similar scripting language would be an advantage
  • Familiarity with common marketing technologies such as Google Analytics (360 and Big Query), Adobe marketing cloud (Marketo and Bizible) or Salesforce would be an advantage
  • Inquisitive nature - driven to figure out how things work and ask good questions to understand ‘why’
  • Able to demonstrate the business value of some of your work to date
  • Able to clearly and concisely communicate findings, complex solutions and status updates
  • Able to use your time effectively and apply appropriate methods to the task in hand
  • A strong bias for action and a self-starter; able to thrive in a fully remote organization
  • A continuous learner, consistently adding to your knowledge and toolkit
  • Attention to detail, while working at pace

For Colorado residents: The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently $72,800 - $132,600 for Colorado residents only. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. See more information on our benefits and equity. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary. Disclosure as required by the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, C.R.S. § 8-5-101 et seq.
