We're on the hunt for a Data Scientist who gets excited about marketing measurement, analyzing marketing investment effectiveness, and using data to help Shopify make investment decisions that help more entrepreneurs succeed. You've got to be someone who rolls up their sleeves, gets shit done, and is always ready to learn. You are a problem solver who loves diving deep into data, coding, and developing new measurement frameworks. You get excited about highly complex and ambiguous data investigations in the marketing measurement space. You are comfortable working with both highly technical colleagues (data science partners) as well as business and finance leaders at Shopify.
We are looking for a thought leader with deep hands-on expertise in marketing measurement science. Working with other data scientists, data engineers, and finance partners, you will help redefine marketing measurement at Shopify. This is a high impact role with opportunities to develop cutting edge measurement systems and analyze marketing effectiveness across all of Shopify. In this role, you will be a technical leader on the Commercial Optimization Data team with significant scope and impact.
You are a hands-on innovator who can contribute to advancing marketing measurement capabilities at Shopify. You push the limits on what’s scientifically possible with a razor sharp focus on measurable merchant and business impact.
In this role you will:
Help define, develop, test, and execute marketing measurement frameworks at Shopify
Propose, build, and refine marketing investment measurement models including large scale experiment designs
Craft functional and clear code that helps Shopify understand marketing performance across channels and business lines
Work closely with data and ML engineers to develop new measurement methods, including media mix models
Work and communicate with marketing, data, and commercial leadership on marketing and optimization approaches to help Shopify optimize marketing investments
What you bring to the team:
Extensive experience in the marketing data science domain including marketing measurement at companies with $100M+ marketing budgets (digital, non-digital, and brand)
Demonstrated experience building marketing measurement ML models and developing algorithms to solve complex marketing measurement problems
Strong experience in experiment design and analysis
Excellent written and verbal communications skills to convey complicated measurement systems and outcomes to business partners and Shopify leadership.
Expert in statistical and programming software including Python.
