About the job
Blue Bottle is looking for an Analytics Engineer to help power data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role will work cross-functionally to identify analytics and BI tooling needs, transform raw data into compelling visualizations, and scale our data pipelines to support self-service analytics. 

You will

    • Write SQL to perform complex data transformations using dbt 
    • Partner with business stakeholders to understand their reporting needs, breaking down their questions into well-designed data models that are scalable, timely, and easy-to-use
    • Champion modern software development practices (e.g. code review, testing, version control) when creating new datasets to ensure data quality across our pipelines and BI tools
    • Train business users on our BI tool and familiarize them with our data warehouse
    • Maintain data documentation and definition

You are

    • An effective communicator and adept at translating business questions into data tables
    • Comfortable with ambiguity and determining strategy and direction from the ground up
    • Highly organized and detail-oriented; able to prioritize while not letting anything drop
    • A collaborator who values and builds upon perspectives other than your own
    • Serious about your work but don’t take yourself too seriously

You have

    • 2+ years of working as a data analyst or data engineer
    • Proficiency in SQL, especially in translating business questions into queries
    • Proficiency in data visualization tools to turn large datasets into meaningful visualizations (e.g. Sigma, Tableau, etc)
    • Basic understanding of data warehouses and ELT or ETL processes
    • BA/BS in a quantitative or computing focused degree
    • Experience working in retail or ecommerce is a plus
