The Analytics Lead owns student data insights and business intelligence. This role will be a thought leader in the development of Outlier’s data infrastructure and reporting. In addition to directly managing all the company’s data and insights, you will provide guidance, direction and support to Product, Engineering, Finance and other teams.

You will be responsible for implementing procedures to ensure that student data is safe, compliant, and accurate. You should love turning data into information, information into insight, and insight into action. We are expanding quickly so our ideal candidate will drive the vision for analytics at Outlier and scale operations by automating the metrics that drive success.

This is a remote full-time role that will report our Head of Analytics.

What You’ll Do

  • Work closely with business and technical teams in analysis and use creative-problem solving to deliver actionable output.
  • Own and build out Outlier’s BI platform for visualization, reporting and consumption across the company
  • Lead a team of reporting and data analysts and expand the team as needed based on business intelligence goals.
  • Ensure the analytics team is positioned to support the needs of the various stakeholders and that their work is optimally aligned with high-level objectives.
  • Deliver high-quality data-driven analyses and strategies that address issues and provide key insights.
  • Inform and help develop automation, machine learning, and AI techniques to improve key processes across our business.
  • Manage reporting of key performance indicators and student success metrics.
  • Supports data management and compliance of our Student Information System
  • Ensure appropriate data collection, compliance, and reporting in accordance with federal, state, and authorizing body rules and guidelines.
  • Use student and interaction data to inform both continuous improvements of Outlier courses and student retention.
  • Locate and define process improvements and work with product and engineering teams to implement new tracking systems, integrations, and metrics across a variety of platforms.

Who You Are

  • Deep understanding of analytics and a passion for building reports and dashboards to enable key insights and data-driven solutions.
  • Apply business strategy while driving technology strategy, balancing short term needs and long term vision to ensure that the architecture can scale and evolve.
  • You have the ability to travel to the outer edges of a problem, then work your way back to reveal all the parts and how they connect
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with exceptional attention to detail. A consummate t-crosser and i-dotter.
  • Adept at report writing and presenting findings to a variety of audiences including senior management, and cross-functional teams
  • Experience with BI Tools (Tableau, Looker, Periscope, etc.) setting up reports and generating analyses and passion for building data infrastructure to support teams across the organization.
