The Opportunity

You will be paired with an analytics team mentor, and during your internship you will be responsible for executing and supporting the team’s strategic objectives. Example projects include:

  •  Responsible for developing reproducible planning studies.
  • Developing, testing, and documenting models of Smart Wires field devices for RMS dynamic and transient stability studies in DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS/E, PSCAD, and other software platforms
  • Developing, testing, and implementing a new scalable practical optimization algorithm to solve a mixed-integer non-linear program for reliability planning
  • Building and validating production cost models from disperse data sets
  • Designing and building web-based calculators and dashboards that will be used by the Sales and Executive teams

The Ideal Candidate
While the following qualifications are preferred, they’re not required. We encourage motivated, tech savvy candidates to apply, even if they do not obtain all of the following skills or experiences:

  • Working towards or recently finished undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a quantitative field (Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related)
  • Passionate or curious about the global electric utility industry
  • Experienced with scientific computing languages (preferably Python, R, or Julia)
  • Responsible and committed
  • An innovative creative problem solver
  • An empathetic team player

Understanding of some or all of the following is required

  • Commercial power flow software (e.g. PowerFactory, PowerWorld, PSS/E, or PSLF)
  • Version control systems (e.g. Git)
