About the Data & Analytics Team

The Data & Analytics team consists of data analysts, data engineers and analytics engineers working to build the most effective platform and tools to help uncover opportunities, build data products and make decisions with data here at Mediavine. We partner with Product, Support, Marketing, Revenue departments and other teams within the Engineering department to understand behavior, develop accurate predictors and build solutions that provide the best internal and external experience possible. 

Position Title & Overview:

The Mediavine data analytics team is on an exciting trajectory of growth and innovation, expanding both in support of the business and pioneering our own ventures. In line with this evolution, we are seeking an individual with a strong analytical foundation to lead and elevate our reporting and analytics endeavors, setting exemplary standards for our entire team of data analysts.

The tech lead for analytics will work with our project manager to define cards, assign points and manage due dates in JIRA. They will be the main point of contact for questions around reporting, dashboards, analysis and data forecasting work for external teams. They will be involved in staffing discussions and leading technical recruitment for new data analysts.

The tech lead will also set the standards for the team. They will be responsible for defining, implementing and reinforcing best practices. They will be writing code and contributing to projects alongside their overseeing responsibilities. 

Essential Responsibilities:

• Run grooming sessions, daily stand-ups, sprint prep and other sprint-related ceremonies
• Provide reviews for teammates
• Set our analysts up for success with well-groomed and detailed cards
• Working to unblock our analysts as necessary
• Communicate with Product, Engineering Managers, and stakeholders to understand context and the bigger picture
• Set clear standards and expectations for our reporting and analysis
• Help the analysts understand how their work contributes to the business goals
• Help define the vision and roadmap for analytics and develop the future architecture, systems and processes
• Collaborate with senior leadership on the implementation of key projects and initiatives
• Act as a technical point of contact for questions about data and reporting
• Proactively communicate challenges, roadblocks and timelines to engineering management and stakeholders
• Conduct technical interviews for future openings on the team
• Produce high quality reports and analysis that can be used as the standard for other analysts

You Have:

• 7+ years of experience in data and analytics roles
• 5+ years in Agile methodology 
• Extremely strong SQL skills 
• Experience working with cloud data warehouses at scale
• Deep knowledge of at least one modern BI tool (Looker, DOMO, Tableau, etc.) 
• Experience with web analysis such as creating product funnels, user behavior, and paths
• Experience with designing and analyzing experiments including but not limited to A/B testing

Nice to haves:

• Experience with data science, machine learning, especially automated platforms like TensorFlow, SageMaker, etc.
• Experience building data products
• Knowledge of Ad Tech, Google Ad Manager, SSPs, etc. 
• The ability to make your teammates laugh
• Experience with dbt
• Experience with dimensional database design
