What’s the role?

Reporting to the VP of Strategy within the Customer Experience unit, the Associate Director - Data Insights owns data oriented customer-focused workstreams answering business unit level questions that have a significant impact on near and long-term success of Northwestern Mutual, with a specific focus on using data and statistical analysis to generate insights. The role extracts data to answer key questions and elevate opportunities to create a delightful Customer Experience at NM.

Responsibilities:

  • Influence business unit strategy and initiatives through advanced analytics, modeling, and economic analysis, often demonstrating large enterprise data sets

  • Gain familiarity with enterprise data architecture and extract data as needed to drive team analytics

  • Perform data analysis or modeling to develop a fact-base to support / guide strategic decisions

Bring your Best! What this role needs:

  • Preferred experience with advanced analytics, data engineering, data science and / statistical analysis

  • Preferred experience extracting and manipulating large data sets to generate insights. SQL, R, Python, SSAS, and/or Git experience strongly preferred

  • At least a handful of applied work proficiencies: Time-series, predictive modeling, experimental design, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, survey research, data visualization, metric curation, segmentation, market sizing, conjoint analysis, pricing analysis, etc

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in statistics, economics, computer science, engineering, or other quantitative fields

  • Shown success in working towards insights through data analysis

  • Superb communication and data visualization skills

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts in a compelling, concise and creative way

  • Able to partner and communicate comfortably with more senior management on business issues
