The Opportunity

The Business Analyst works with FreshBooks’ two lines of business, Subscription and Payments, to enable them to determine where to prioritize campaigns and projects to drive growth most effectively. Reporting directly to the Manager,Marketing Planning & Analysis, our ideal candidate will provide solid data and supporting analysis, the Business Analyst brings key insights to the team, and influences business decisions across the company. 

 

What You’ll Do: 

 

  • Support preparation of monthly, annually and quarterly business team forecasts
  • Complete monthly reports of business team actual performance versus forecast and identify/ research key drivers of variances and evaluate impacts to future months’ forecast
  • Build, automate and maintain business reporting, analysis and metrics, including in-depth analytics of key metrics such as LTV, ARPU, CAC, Payback, funnel analysis and marketing attribution
  • Analyze all performance marketing data to measure effectiveness of marketing campaigns and strategies and provide recommendations on optimization tactics (cross-channel, cross-product) and product launch plans
  • Provide weekly media spend reports with relevant narrative on key variances
  • Identify gaps and opportunities, collaborating within the FP&A team and cross-functionally, to come up with strategies to optimize existing campaigns and create new initiatives
  • Develop a deep understanding of marketing channel performance and financial results
  • Work closely with the Growth Marketing and Finance teams to develop monthly, quarterly and annual marketing forecasts and perform variance analysis on actuals to forecast
  • expanded or new opportunities and coordinate on implementation of changes.
  • Provide coordination and support for other marketing activities and initiatives as required.

 

What You’ll Need: 

  • University undergraduate degree (e.g. business, accounting, economics, mathematics, engineering are preferred)
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience as a Financial or Marketing Business Analyst with a strong work ethic
  • Highly proficient computer skills with various applications with advanced Microsoft Excel skills, Google sheets and strong financial modeling skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and adhere to deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of data modelling and data warehouse principles
  • Confidence to embrace new ways of doing things, including automating functions and looks for continuous improvement
  • Collaborative team player with strong communication skills including effective writing skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple & easy-to-understand way
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Looker, MySQL query, Google Analytics, an asset
  • Nice to have: Experience in SaaS
