ClassDojo's mission is to give every child on Earth an education they love.

We started by building a network that connects teachers, children, and families. ClassDojo’s flagship app is the #1 communication app connecting K-8 teachers, children, and families, globally. They use it to share what’s happening throughout the day through photos, videos, messages, and activities. It is actively used at an unprecedented scale: in over 95% of US schools, reaching ~51 million children in ~180 countries. We are now beginning to use this network to give kids the best learning experiences in the world, far beyond those a standard school can provide.

We hire for talent density. Our team comprises the most talented, entrepreneurial, and innovative teammates from around the world, with deep backgrounds in education and large scale consumer internet, including Instagram, Netflix, Dropbox, Uber, Y Combinator, and more. We’re building a company where the most talented people want to work. We believe you’ll do the best work of your life here—and you’ll pioneer the future of education, too.

What you’ll do:

As ClassDojo’s Compensation Lead, you'll partner with the Head of People and Senior Leadership to build compensation strategies that attract and retain our people. You'll be data driven and user centric in every aspect of compensation from defining our philosophy to flawlessly executing on our approach.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate ClassDojo’s compensation principles into a scalable and repeatable compensation program. This includes establishing and managing salaries, equity programs and benefits, in the US and internationally.
  • Establish and manage execution of a bi-yearly compensation market review system. This includes reviewing and considering multiple data sources, and determining how market data impacts salary ranges and equity refreshers.
  • Partner with the exec team and Talent team to price new and existing roles.
  • Provide actionable people analytics, giving leaders insight into how to better attract, retain and develop talent-dense organizations.

Competencies:

  • You are a hands-on, scrappy builder, who can go from 0 → 1. You hold the big picture in mind while digging into the details.
  • You are a strong and structured problem-solver, especially in the face of ambiguity. You disaggregate complex problems, synthesize large amounts of quant and qual research into simple, actionable strategies.
  • You are a strong cross-functional collaborator and thought partner, especially with recruiters, HRBPs, executives and our CEO. You are curious and open to feedback.
  • You have clear, concise written + verbal communication.
  • You are comfortable moving quickly and adapting to business needs. You raise the bar for speed and scrappiness.

You will be a match if you have:

  • 4+ years of experience in a compensation role with direct experience in private company compensation practices
  • Experience in a high-growth, high quality tech start-up environment, is a plus
  • Substantial command of compensation fundamentals (e.g., job matching and market pricing, Job Architecture, compensation surveys, equity mechanics, cyclical programs, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and modeling skills, with high attention to understandable models, data validity and accuracy

You might be a good fit if you have:

  • Experience transitioning from options-based equity plans to RSU-based equity plans in the context of helping a company become public company ready.
  • Experience in creating and managing executive compensation.
  • Experience in adjacent disciplines such as HR Consulting, FP&A, business intelligence or analytics
  • People analytics: ability to merge disparate data from multiple sources, perform meaningful analysis (statistics), and communicate the results (verbally and through visuals/graphs) effectively to management
