A Consultant provides quality consulting services to clients on the engagements to which they are assigned. A Consultant will serve on an engagement as an individual contributor or in a staff augmentation role, typically in an operational or project setting.

In addition to billable work, a Consultant will actively participate in and support efforts to build and maintain quality service delivery. Because of their knowledge and experience within their field, they serve as mentors to more junior team members.

As a Consultant, you are recognized as highly skilled and proficient in your discipline, conducting complex work and contributing to measurable team and organizational objectives. You work with minimal supervision and wide latitude for independent judgement, assisting less experienced team members as needed.

The role you play

Client Engagement Delivery 

  • Serving in a lead and/or supporting role capacity and can provide product operational, project based, and/or related consulting services as needed 
  • Providing professional, effective, and consistent delivery of consulting services on all assigned engagements 
  • Collaborating on project activities and deliverables with fellow Tegria team members 
  • Applying appropriate tools and methods as needed including, but not limited to, use of status reporting, standards, tools, metrics, expectation management, change management, change control, and quality assurance methods 
  • Proactively managing engagement/client communications, expectation management, time and appropriate status reporting, effective written and verbal communications, and strong facilitation skills 
  • Ability to independently apply best practices and concepts from similar work to new scenarios 
  • Developing complex data sets using T-SQL, PL-SQL, or other querying languages that are efficient and easily digestible into a wide array of reporting platforms 
  • Transforming large data sets into meaningful insights using business intelligence tools to quickly deliver information to customers 
  • Extracting data sets for third-party or downstream systems 
  • Working with clients to understand their business problems as well as proposing and developing analytic solutions to solve those problems 
  • Evaluating and documenting current-state processes through discovery and analysis 
  • Building, testing, training, converting and/or deploying new infrastructure, workflows, policies, and processes 
  • Serving as a liaison between diverse IT and operations groups 
  • Documenting measurable outcomes resulting from initiatives through KPI analysis and impact tracking 
  • Mentoring customer counterparts for successful, long-term ownership and growth 

Internal Responsibilities 

  • Providing guidance to less experienced members of the team, as needed
  • Participating in Service/Practice Line development by assisting and sharing tools, methodology, and knowledge 
  • Contributing to team and organizational objectives 
  • Modeling and holding fellow team members accountable to company values 
  • Incorporating diversity and healthcare equity as a guiding principle of internal development and client-facing delivery 
  • Referring new talent to Tegria’s Talent team to continue growing Tegria’s knowledge and capabilities 
  • Participating in team activities to support culture and continuous improvement 

Business Development 

  • Supporting sales and business development by ensuring quality delivery on assigned engagements 
  • Reporting potential engagement expansion opportunities identified while working on assigned engagements  
  • Developing materials to support sales efforts, as needed, such documenting engagement outcomes and writing case studies

Personal/Professional 

  • Keeping abreast of current and developing trends and technologies in their area of product, technical skills, or EHR expertise. (e.g. completing certifications, learning additional business concepts) 
  • Operating independently; managing and tracking your own work progression 

Additional Responsibilities 

  • Performs other generally related duties as assigned. 

What we’re looking for

We expect:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business, IT, or computer science or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

Certifications

  • Role-focused certification
  • EHR certifications (e.g. Epic Cogito) 
  • Data visualization tool certifications (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) 
  • Vendor tool certifications (e.g. Microsoft) 

Experience

  • Typically, 4+ years’ experience in some or all the following:
  • Healthcare or healthcare IT 
  • Serving in the consulting or professional service industry 
  • Area of focus (e.g., EHR, project management, product, technical skills) 
  • 6+ years of professional experience delivering project or program enhancements within a healthcare organization, payer, or healthcare consulting practice including: 
  • EMR reporting tools experience (Epic: Radar, RWB, SlicerDicer etc., MEDITECH: Report Designer, Business and Clinical Analytics etc.) 
  • EMR database experience (Epic: Clarity, Caboodle etc., MEDITECH: Data Repository etc.) 
  • Implementing, supporting, optimizing, and upgrading an EMR (Epic, MEDITECH, etc.) 
  • Connecting business intelligence tools to multiple data stores such as Azure, Oracle, SQL Server, Google BigQuery, Hadoop Hive, Spark SQL, etc.  
  • Data Engineering tools experience (SSIS, Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, etc.) 
  • Experience mentoring less experienced team members 
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum processes and methodologies 
  • Demonstrated understanding of data warehouse design with advanced knowledge in querying languages such as T-SQL and PL-SQL
  • A conceptual knowledge and demonstrated practical understanding of data visualization techniques and best practices 
  • Demonstrated understanding of data quality best practices 
  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7v2, FHIR, DICOM, ICD, CPT, SNOWMED, LOINC, NCPDP, RxNorm, ANSI X12N, CCDA codes) and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA). 
  • Strategic thinking, with the ability to align analytics initiatives with business goals. 
  • Business acumen, particularly within the healthcare sector, understanding market trends and client needs. 

Knowledge

  • Demonstrated understanding of data warehouse design with advanced knowledge in querying languages such as T-SQL and PL-SQL 
  • A conceptual knowledge and demonstrated practical understanding of data visualization techniques and best practices
  • Demonstrated understanding of data quality best practices

  • Competent proficiency in data analytics tools such as SQL, SAS, R, Python, and advanced Excel. 
  • Competent proficiency in business intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Microstrategy, etc.) with the proven ability to quickly learn new technology 
  • Competent proficiency in data engineering tools such as SSIS, Snowflake, Databricks, dbt. 
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and derive actionable insights. 
  • Problem-solving mindset, capable of identifying issues and developing strategic solutions. 
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, clients, and senior management. 
  • Project management skills, with experience in managing small to medium-sized projects or significant components of larger projects. 
  • Ability to mentor junior team members and provide guidance on analytics tasks.
