As a Controls Analytics Manager, youâll bring together your expertise in risk, controls, and data analytics to design and build automated monitoring solutions and reusable frameworks. Youâll also have the opportunity to explore advanced techniques â such as AI â to enhance testing, improve efficiency, and expand automation across our control environment.
In this role, youâll be at the forefront of bringing data-driven insight to how we manage risk and controls, helping Monzo scale safely and smartly as we grow.
Weâre looking for someone whoâs passionate about using data to strengthen assurance and help Monzo continue to grow safely.
About our Risk & Controls Team
Like any regulated bank, we must manage risks and controls effectively and remain fully compliant with regulation. At Monzo, we do this differently â combining rigorous risk management with our agile, âtest and learnâ approach to building products our customers love.
Weâre building a new, data-driven capability to strengthen assurance, and this role will be central to shaping and scaling it. Youâll design and run full-population control tests, build Continuous Control Monitoring (CCM) dashboards, and generate insights that keep Monzo operating safely, efficiently, and at scale.
đ Youâll play a key role by providingâŚ
- Continuous Control Monitoring (CCM): Designing and building automated queries, scripts, and dashboards (using SQL, BigQuery, and Looker) to provide continuous monitoring of material risks and controls, with ongoing validation to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
- Data analytics and automation: Creating reusable code and automation frameworks to embed analytics into control testing, with opportunities to explore advanced techniques (including AI) to further improve efficiency and scalability.
- Deep-dive analytics: Leading the data analytics elements of ad-hoc, targeted reviews of specific risks or control themes, surfacing insights that strengthen assurance and inform senior decision-making.
- Driving continuous improvement: Ensuring control gaps identified through analytics are agreed with stakeholders and recorded.
- Partnering with stakeholders: Collaborating across risk, audit, and business teams to ensure transparency, strengthen accountability, and embed a culture of proactive assurance.
𤊠Weâd love to hear from you ifâŚ
- You have experience in regulated financial services, professional services, or high-growth tech, with a strong focus on control assurance and data-driven risk management.
- You are highly skilled in SQL (Looker and BigQuery experience is a plus, but not essential).
- You have designed and built data analytics solutions for control testing, turning requirements into repeatable, automated approaches and continuous monitoring solutions.
- You are an analytical thinker who simplifies complexity, identifies systemic issues, and clearly communicates insights to business senior management.
- You thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments â resilient, proactive, and motivated to help Monzo scale safely and sustainably.
- You have hands-on experience with GitHub and automating data pipelines into BigQuery (desirable but not essential).
- You are immediately available or have a notice period of 1 month or less (As this is a fixed-term position, weâll be prioritising applicants who are available to start in 4 weeks or less).
