Insomniac Games is looking for a Data Analyst to join our Online Service Team! You will be responsible for partnering with multiple game teams to define what data to collect, verify data accuracy, turn data into actionable insights, and ensure game teams use those insights to make better decisions.  This is the first individual contributor position in the new Online Services Department, which will provide data analytics and data science for Insomniac Games. It's an exciting time to join a growing team and to contribute to our always improving games! 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Partner with game developers, engineers, and product managers to solve complex analytical problems from beginning to end and deliver impact
  • Construct clean and effective dashboards visualizing player experience insights
  • Write queries that accurately and efficiently return results
  • Develop telemetry messages for new game features with a focus on scalability
  • Other duties may be assigned

Education and/or Experience: 5+ years professional experience with data analytics - gaming experience preferred 

Mathematical Skills: Fluency in mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and creating meaningful metrics from data at scale within acceptable performance.  Ability to apply concepts such as quantification of data quality, data system performance optimization in practical situations.

Reasoning Skills: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills: Proficient in analytical query-writing in SQL; Fluency in a data-analysis programming language such as Python or R.  Demonstrated analytical skills working with large sets of complex data; Comfortable with at least one visualization tool such as Looker, Tableau, or MicroStrategy.
