Opportunity

As we expand our business, we are looking for our first Data Analyst. This team member will report to the Senior Director, Product Growth.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of experience in data analytics and/or data science. Any experience working in the startup, climate, asset management, and/or inventory management technology space would be preferred.

This role will require someone who enjoys collecting, organizing, and analyzing large data sets to identify trends, patterns, and relationships. You will collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve the user experience and measure the impact of Product, Marketing, and Sales efforts through careful instrumentation and detailed reporting.

Roles and Responsibilities 

Support our company and team members to make data-informed decisions at strategic, product, and feature levels. 

  • Process and tools 
    • Research and implement tools and reports to improve day-to-day operations.
    • Build dashboards in Tableau or other BI tools for the company to track product performance accurately.
    • Develop new models and methods for evaluating existing data or correlating new to existing data sources for intuitive reporting solutions.
    • Integrate multiple systems and data sources to build large and complex data sets to make them usable for analytics use cases.
    • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to deliver analytics and insights. 
  • Metrics creation and monitoring
    • Define and analyze metrics that tie back to business performance and initiatives.
    • Proactively identify and interpret trends and patterns in datasets to attribute key business drivers.
    • Design, develop and automate self-service dashboards to ensure our business leaders can access the correct information when monitoring product health and making decisions.
    • Support ad-hoc data inquiries from critical stakeholders and identify ways to incorporate those into ongoing data monitoring
  • Data insights and recommendations
    • Drive deep strategic analysis, drawing insights and transforming data into actionable changes that inform the most critical decisions across the organization.
    • Identify and monitor business-critical data points and notify key stakeholders of trends and significant changes.
    • Generate forecasts, recommendations, and strategic/tactical plans to drive actions.
    • Empower leaders and organizations by providing high-quality and timely reporting, analyses, and actionable insights.
    • Develop end-to-end analysis and insights plans to investigate product areas with a high opportunity to improve the customer experience.
    • Make recommendations for product improvements based on those insights and size for impact.
    • Communicate wins and learnings, and elevate trade-offs to cross-functional leadership teams.
  • Experiments
    • Partner with the product team to identify the root causes of changes in key metrics and run tests to validate your hypotheses.
    • Partner with the product team to run exploratory analyses and uncover new areas of opportunity, create and test hypotheses, and quickly assess the potential upside of a given opportunity for future testing.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience working as a data analyst, a product analyst, a business analyst, or a similar role
  • Technical skills 
    • Experience working with complicated SQL queries and ETL tools like DBT
    • Experience working with behavioral analytics tools like Amplitude, Mixpanel, Heap, or Segment
    • Experience working with BI tools like Metabase, Alteryx, Looker, or Tableau
    • Experience managing and working with large databases, data management, including an understanding of various data structures and standard methods in data transformation, data validation and audit
    • Experience working with multiple data sources internal to organizations and external sources
    • Experience taking unstructured problems and breaking them down into manageable quantitative analyses
  • Communication skills
    • Experience presenting technical analyses in clear and impactful formats (written summaries, live demos, presentations, etc.)
    • Excellent consulting and collaborative skills – ability to translate ambiguous business problems into research/analytics studies, as well as ability to communicate the results of analyses with business partners to impact and influence strategy and action at all levels.
