THE ROLE

Do you want to play a role in ensuring vaccines are distributed effectively around the world? We’re looking for someone with a passion for data-driven solutions and visual storytelling that is excited about using data to unlock insights for governments and stakeholders to make decisions at scale. Reporting to the Director for Vaccine Programs, you’ll help our team protect and support the infrastructure required to get safe vaccines to 1 in 10 children born each year.

Our team works with governments to ensure they have the data needed to manage strong cold chains, and partners to solve gaps in knowledge and programmatic need. You’ll ensure that Nexleaf is making data-driven statements, articulating assumptions, and following a process of testing and validating those assumptions. We believe the right data can transform vaccine delivery around the world, and we’re looking for a teammate with ambitions as big as ours!

In this role, you will:

Drive Data Management and Analytics for a Multi-Country Program

  • Independently manage, organize, synthesize, and integrate multiple data sets from existing and historical projects, in order to inform vaccination systems in countries around the world
  • Drive data analysis and interpretation of internal and external data to maximize the impact of Nexleaf and partner resources
  • Explore and learn about new data sources and ensure the Vaccine Program is using the most relevant and update to date sources
  • Drive the evaluation of data quality, adapting approaches as needed, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement

Deliver Actionable Data

  • Develop clear and compelling data products that transform data into interactive and dynamic visualizations that convey insights, demonstrate results, and communicate findings in an understandable and visually appealing way
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand user needs, data use cases
  • Rapidly prototype analyses based on proactive feedback collection from program leads and end-users (governments, Ministries of Health, NGOs, etc.)
  • Identify and pursue compelling means to produce write-ups and lean data-driven reports offering interpretations of data, insights, and recommendations that motivate stakeholders to improve their impact and decision-making

Bring Leadership to Data Analysis and Use

  • Serve as the Vaccine Team’s data expert, ensuring high quality, identifying opportunities, and exploring the possibilities of data use beyond just descriptive analytics
  • Contribute to development of project plans, including identifying opportunities around data analysis and use, timelines, scope, and deliverables
  • Advise program leads and partners on strengths and limitations of the data, data collection tools, and necessary data sources
  • Maintain understanding of country data information systems and proactively identify opportunities for collaboration with or contribution to existing platforms
  • Work with Vaccine Team to design and implement program evaluations to ensure we are constantly learning and using data to improve our approach
  • 5+ years experience working with quantitative, time series data, including analyzing and interpreting “real-world” imperfect data
  • Skilled in data visualization, including identifying key hypothesis as well as validating existing hypotheses, from conceptualizing to execution and design
  • Ability to identify role and value of data in responding to diverse and unspecific questions
  • Proficiency or expertise in a programming language like Python or R
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, as well as mathematical skills (e.g., statistics, algebra)
    • Proficient technical writing skills and ability to produce lean reports and documents
    • Must be available for regular morning or evening calls outside of standard work hours to communicate with team members and stakeholders in global time zones
    • 1+ year of Tableau, Google Data Studio, or other data visualization tool experience, power user preferred

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Familiarity with IoT projects
    • Familiarity with global health sector data
    • Working knowledge of statistical modeling, and experience with common statistical and data analysis libraries
    • Experience with both quantitative and qualitative research such as best practices around conducting interviews and analyzing interview data
    • Can thrive in an early-stage program and/or small growing organization with high levels of uncertainty and be willing to adapt to changing priorities and complexity
