About the Role 

As an Analytics Engineer, you will help Maple's team members and partners make better decisions by providing accurate, trustworthy data. You will enable company-wide self-serve analytics with robust, well-design data models, and provide necessary educational content and support to help end-users be successful. You sit at the intersection of business, data analytics, and data engineering, and are responsible for bringing robust, efficient, and integrated data assets and products to life. You are someone who is able to blend business acumen with technical expertise and transition between business strategy and data development.

Responsibilities

You will:

  • Help manage data integration tools to ingest source data reliably
  • Design, build and document accurate, meaningful data models for various end-users
  • Use dbt to clean, validate, and transform raw source data from multiple sources
  • Create and maintain tests to ensure data quality and repeatability
  • Create and update Looker dashboards, views, and Explores using LookML
  • Provide reporting and analysis support to one or more business departments
  • Respond to ad-hoc questions and educate business users to use self-serve analytics
  • Maintain data privacy and security and promote data-driven decision making
  • Help to define and improve our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale data infrastructure

Required Skills 

  • 3+ years of experience as an analytics/data engineer, data analyst, or data scientist
  • Expert SQL skills
  • Experience with dbt
  • Strong communication skills; regularly achieve consensus amongst technical and business teams
  • Experience with a cloud-based data warehouse system such as Redshift (preferred), Snowflake, or BigQuery
  • Experience with ETL/ELT services such as Stitch, Fivetran, etc.
  • Experience with data analysis and Kimball dimensional modeling.
  • Experience visualizing data in a BI tool such as Looker (preferred), Tableau, Mode Analytics, etc.
  • Experience building and maintaining reporting processes for digital marketing, finance, sales, product, or operations teams
  • Experience reviewing code and providing feedback to peers
  • Experience with Python and pandas for data analysis
  • Proficiency with Jira, GitHub, and/or Airflow is considered an asset
