Maven is looking for a driven, experienced Data Analytics Engineer to help us architect analytical frameworks and make data-driven decisions as our product offering expands. The Data Analytics Engineer, reporting to the Director of Data Analytics, will work closely with our Engineering, Data, and Product teams to design, build, troubleshoot, and improve our data pipeline & data models, with a focus on constructing scalable, performant infrastructure. By creating & executing on a vision for our data architecture that informs & aligns with the trajectory of our product development, the Data Analytics Engineer will be foundational in driving health outcomes for users and business outcomes for Maven Clinic as a whole.
As a Data Analytics Engineer at Maven, you will:
- Partner with engineers to ensure that upstream changes in production data integrate effectively with existing data pipeline and models, and build out new infrastructure to accommodate changes when needed
- Extract and transform data from all Maven data sources, both internal and 3rd party, using a variety of technical languages (primarily SQL, Jinja and Python)
- Guide the expansion of our dbt deployment & utilization (ex. snapshots, data checks, and query structure)
- Monitor data pipeline, data models, and general business health, proactively flagging and investigating any irregularities and creating automated checks to ensure long-term data integrity
- Apply coding & engineering best practices (ex. SQL formatting, version control, code review) to Data team workflows, and continue to develop & promote best practices among analysts
- Work with stakeholders on the Engineering, Data, and Product Management teams to devise and test hypotheses and metrics to evaluate product effectiveness across programs
- Communicate with stakeholders of varying seniority across the company to both scope and demonstrate the value of infrastructure projects, serving as a technical thought partner and leader
- Explore new ways to help our team and our company scale, such as adopting new packages or softwares, making internal tool & process improvements, or introducing new technical languages
We’re looking for you to bring:
- 5+ years of data analytics/data engineering experience and a strong background in SQL and data visualization
- Direct experience designing, building and maintaining data pipelines alongside engineering and data analytics teams
- Experience with dbt or similar tools, and strong opinions regarding how the data analyst technical environment & toolset is architected
- A bachelor’s degree from a top university with a focus on a quantitative fields such as: Math, Physics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science
- A passion for dissecting and reconstructing complex issues with a data-driven approach
- A technical bent and the ability to use data and tools to answer your own questions
- An interest in juggling both long-term, strategic projects and ad hoc, urgent requests as needed
- The ability to communicate well across all departments with team members of varying technical abilities
- Enthusiasm for sharing knowledge, establishing best practices, and spreading data culture
Helpful experiences and skills (if you don’t have them, you can learn them with us!):
- Experience with data visualization software (Looker a plus)
- Proficiency in a technical or coding language (Python, R, Jinja, HTML)
- Experience with financial modeling and/or statistics
- Background in a healthcare-related field
