Job Description

Join our remote team as a Data Catalog SME in support of federal client where you will help us develop and maintain an effective data catalog, ensuring the customer’s data assets are properly documented, discoverable, and accessible. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data cataloging tools and metadata management.

Position Duties:

• Develop and implement strategies for data cataloging, metadata management, and data discovery.
• Collaborate with data owners, stewards, and technical teams to define data cataloging standards and best practices.
• Prioritize data catalog development and enhancement initiatives.
• Develop a product roadmap to describe features and functionality enhancements to the Data Catalog.
• Manage the population of metadata for mission-essential business systems into the data catalog.
• Develop stakeholder engagement initiatives and communications to increase data catalog use and metadata discovery.
• Lead efforts to capture and maintain metadata, including data lineage, data quality, and data usage information.
• Work with data owners to ensure that metadata aligns with business definitions and requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to data cataloging and metadata management.
• Troubleshoot data catalog-related technical issues.

Qualifications

Required Skillset:

• Minimum of 8 years of related experience as a Data Catalog SME.
• Expertise in data cataloging tools and platforms.
• In-depth understanding of metadata management principles and practices.
• Strong knowledge of data governance principles and data management concepts.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience developing training materials.
• Familiarity with data quality and data lineage concepts.
• Ability to work independently and lead data cataloging initiatives.

Desired Skillset:

• Experience working with the Federal Government.
• Experience working with big data technologies.
• Programming skills in languages such as Python or R.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries.
• Experience working in a Cloud environment.

Education: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other technical field of study or commiserate experience

Clearance Requirement:

• Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship Required
