At SalesLoft, our Data Engineers are pivotal to our company's success. You will be a key member of our fast-growing and high-performing Data & Analytics team helping departments monitor their performance, understand trends, and make more informed decisions.

What We’re Looking For:

As a key member of our rapidly growing organization you will help us build the data architecture and transformation pipeline that powers our internal stakeholders ability to access and analyze data at scale. You will work closely with a team of engineers and analysts to ensure data is regularly available and well structured. 

On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for interfacing with analysts and stakeholders from across the company to architect and deliver end to end ELT pipelines. A Data Engineer will be tasked with the following:

  • Developing data pipelines from ingest to modeled data in domains including product, marketing, revenue and customer success
  • Participating in design sessions about your data models and pipelines
  • Collaborating with analysts and business users to deploy analysis ready data sets into production
  • Perform heads down development, test your code, review peer code and ship it to production
  • Maintain, monitor and debug your work in a production environment
  • Define and improve our internal standards for style, maintainability and testing

 

The Team:

Our SalesLoft Data & Analytics team is composed of Data Analysts & Data Engineers who are all aligned on one mission: to redefine the Sales Engagement space and activate the authentic seller in all of us.

The Data & Analytics team consists of passionate data engineers and analysts with a drive to enable SalesLoft to make better decisions. The Skill Set:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in a Data Engineer or similar role 
  • Comfortable working with Git and SQL
  • Experience creating production grade ELT pipelines we use Fivetran, Snowflake, DBT and Looker)
  • Ability to troubleshoot, performance tune, and write good tests 
  • A deep understanding of data modeling & normalization techniques 
  • Experience with agile methodologies such a Scrum or Kanban
  • Strong oral and written communication skills that enable asynchronous work
  • Experience with a modern data stack is a plus (we use Fivetran, Snowflake, DBT and Looker)

Within one month, you’ll:

  • Be comfortable working with dbt and our data stack 
  • Contribute to an existing data model in production
  • Set your OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) with your manager and develop an action plan to achieve them.
  • Begin 1:1s with your manager, understand your 30-60-90 plan, & shadow current members of the SalesLoft team.

Within three months, you’ll:

  • Gather requirements and scope on projects with little support from more senior members of the team
  • Contribute to internal conversations on data organization and structure
  • Design, plan and deliver analysis ready data sets to production
  • Make implementation decisions that balance speed and technical debt
  • Own operational tasks such as host migrations with minimal oversight

Within six months, you’ll:

  • Proactively identify areas for improvement regarding our data stack, testing practices, and documentation
  • Become comfortable peer reviewing work from fellow team members
  • Collaborate with analysts on their data roadmap to identify upcoming initiatives and resource constraints.

Within twelve months, you’ll:

  • Own the infrastructure, processes, and data sets for several domains within the company
  • Regularly interface with senior engineering staff to develop a forward looking vision for our data stack
  • Work with data producers to identify and prioritize source data quality issues
