About You & Vori  

As a Data Engineer in a funded healthcare startup based out of Montreal, NYC and SF, you are an active creator in the ideation and deployment of consumer-facing experiences and clinician tools to enable end-to-end care. You have a passion for coding and are motivated by helping people, no matter how challenging the circumstances, you are driven to help others overcome their obstacles. You see design, product, development and operations as a unified experience in delivering best-in-class platforms. You prefer designing systems vs point solutions. You are the type of person that finds great satisfaction from the collective success of the team fulfilling customer/patient needs. Additionally, you care about technical elegance, security and high availability. You have a keen interest on trends in both the digital and physical realms with a keen interest in human-centered system designs. You understand how big and little improvements propel a business forward - and you get things done! 

Responsibilities 

  • Creating reports for usability, clinical pathways & outcomes, and financial reports 

  • Working with internal stakeholders across clinical, operations, and technology 

  • Designing, seveloping and maintaining date lake/data warehouse 

  • Hands-on experience on ETL pipelines 

  • Interpret business requirements to provide technical guidance of the software development required to address those requirements. 

  • Be part of an agile team to develop a scalable, highly available application platform. 

  • Work closely with product managers, testers, and application architects. 

  • Document and communicate clearly communicate architecture and implementation solutions. 

  • Define technical product specifications to ensure the development of scalable, high-quality products. 

  • Participate in defining client requirements, assisting internal customers to express their needs. 

  • Provide technical guidance on data best practices to our development team. 

  • Drive and maintain a strong focus on ease of system integration, interoperabilityinteroperability, and sustainability of the solution. 

  • Work on key systems, data integrations, payment gateway, fraud & tax services, subscription services, health systems and integration with business-critical systems like CRM, Order Management System and other. 

  • Be an active contributor of technical best practices, code and development standards and ensure their adherence within team. 

  • Keep up to date with latest technical trends, propose and conduct R&D projects 

  • Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to allow for continuous improvements in areas of site resiliency, availability, scalability, and security. 
     

Required Qualifications 

  • 3-5 years’ experience in the healthcare industry doing data science, data analysis, data engineering, data modeling, ETL 

  • Experienced SQL Developer 

  • Proven track record using different tools, such as Looker, Tableau, Jupyter Notebook, Qlik, Domo, Spark 

  • Experience with large, live datasets and tackling them using Spark, Hadoop, Yarn, Hive, Impala, etc. 

  • Experience working within an Agile team 

  • Experience developing software utilizing various coding languages such as R, Python, SQL & NOSQL 

  • Cloud platform knowledge (AWS, GCP, or Azure) 

  • Master's or PhD in Data Science, Data Engineering, or Data Analytics 
     

Additional Qualifications 

  • Familiarity with PANDAS, Scala, Segment, FiveTran,  and/or Sagemaker, Databricks, and/or Spark Applications 

  • Some experience in developing streaming data pipelines 

  • Have a passion for learning 

  • Enjoy building elegant user interfaces  

  • Ability to be self-directed and be effective working independently yet feel equally comfortable contributing in a team environment 

  • Work well with technical and non-technical people to deliver high-value results 

  • Believe that writing code is just a means to solve business problems (but cool code is an inherent win!) 

  • Enjoy being part of a highly collaborative, remote-friendly environment 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
