The role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, data-savvy, and proactive intern to join our data engineering team at Gametime. As a Data Engineering Intern, you will play a pivotal role in building, maintaining, and optimizing our data pipelines, working closely with both data and product teams to enable data-driven decisions across the company. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong foundation in software engineering principles, eager to tackle complex problems through independent research, experimentation, and innovative thinking. You should be comfortable taking initiative to find solutions, asking insightful questions, and seeking feedback to continuously improve and adapt to the fast-paced environment. Your contributions will be crucial in supporting our data infrastructure, ensuring data quality and accessibility, and driving projects that impact product development and customer experience. Adaptability and a passion for staying ahead of industry trends are essential, as your work will help navigate the evolving landscape of data engineering to propel Gametime's growth and success.

What you'll be doing:

    • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines leveraging Apache Airflow, Python, and SQL, ensuring efficient data integration and processing across AWS and Snowflake environments.
    • Utilize dbt for data transformation and model management in Snowflake, enhancing data quality and accessibility for analytics and operational use cases.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement data engineering solutions to support data-driven decision-making.
    • Address technical challenges through proactive problem-solving, optimizing data workflows and infrastructure for performance and reliability, while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Our ideal candidate has:

    • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, having completed at least three years, or a recent graduate.
    • Proficiency in SQL and Python, with the ability to write efficient, complex queries and scripts for data manipulation.
    • Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, demonstrating a basic understanding of cloud services and infrastructure as it relates to data engineering.

A bonus if you have:

    • Experience with Snowflake, showcasing an understanding of data warehousing solutions and best practices in data storage and retrieval.
    • Knowledge of Apache Airflow for data pipeline orchestration, highlighting experience with workflow management and automation.
    • Familiarity with dbt (data build tool) for managing data transformations and modeling, indicating an understanding of modern data engineering practices.
    • Experience with Terraform, indicating exposure to infrastructure as code (IaC) for managing and provisioning cloud resources through code.
$30 - $40 an hour
At Gametime pay ranges are subject to change and assigned to a job based on specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget.
