Data Governance Architect 

Job Description

The Data Governance Architect is a senior, client facing role that will be responsible for leading efforts across the DG spectrum.  This includes the ability to help clients in the creation, implementation, and sustainment of data governance programs as well as a solid understanding of the tooling needed to support initiatives (i.e., Purview, Alation).  Strong communication, presentation skills, and the ability to speak to the effectiveness of a successful governance program to all levels of an organization are needed.  The ideal candidate is also able to collaborate with fellow 3Cloud colleagues on large-scale data and analytics engagements which include data management, reporting, advanced analytics, and other competencies of the organization.  At least 5 years of experience with a primary focus on data governance is preferred. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Able to lead clients in the creation, implementation, and sustainment of a data governance program   
  • Understands the various operating models of data governance programs 
  • Understanding of the technology and tooling needed around data governance initiatives such as Master Data Management, Metadata Management, Data Quality, and Data Catalogs 
  • Able to quickly grasp diverse subject matter representing various units across the entire business 
  • Understanding of an organization’s complete data estate, how data traverses through the organization, and where data governance should be properly implemented 
  • Able to assess and implement data privacy initiatives.  Strong knowledge of GDPR, CCPA and other data privacy regulations 
  • Can visually represent current and future states 
  • Experience using analytical tools, dashboards, and processes to explore business problems 
  • Ability to synthesize information, generate compelling insights, and formulate recommendations to senior leadership 
  • Strong presentation skills including the ability to convey complex subject matter to an executive audience in a clear, concise, and compelling manner 
  • Must have strong writing skills and can effectively document business process, organizational and technical concepts   
  • Able to participate in strategic engagements covering people, process, technology, data, and the role governance plays 

Experience 

  • 10+ years in data and analytics experience  
  • 5+ years in primarily a data governance / data strategy role 
  • Experience in creating, implementing, or maintaining a data governance program 
  • Experience in Alation, Profisee, Azure Purview preferred 
  • Experience working in the Microsoft Azure space preferred
