Our Lincoln, RI office is seeking a Data Management Service Manager who will be accountable for Data Management services around data warehouse and analytics, business intelligence and data integration efforts, including the short- and long-term technical strategy for the service, operational readiness, appropriate documentation, and alignment with teams around quality and integrity of development. Align with other teams who need work completed to understand the competing priorities. Ensure the team effectively prioritizes the backlog by providing information to them while assisting with cross team communication, where needed, to enable necessary business outcomes. Work with service team as a servant leader to enable team ownership of the processes.
Location: Open to fulltime remote work, or hybrid onsite in our Lincoln, RI office.
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, Eastern Time business hours.
A starting annual salary between $123,967 – $170,454 based on level of previous experience. In addition, the selected candidate will be eligible for the company’s annual variable incentive paid based on company performance. Additional commission opportunities may apply to customer facing sales and service representatives.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and direct team personnel to provide effective and timely solutions to support corporate strategic direction.
- Responsible for the continuous performance monitoring, training, and professional development needs of team members working to support the service. Collaborate with IT Talent Specialists as needed.
- Collaborate and communicate within the matrixed organizational structure including:
- Work across multiple agile teams who are active within the service and align the teams to the best coding practices and processes as well as consistency between how the service needs are being developed across teams.
- Partner with IT Talent Support, to help support the necessary training and growth of team members working within the service.
- Collaborate with the business including Enterprise Data Strategy group, Product Owners and Stakeholders to understand service needs and align strategy appropriately.
- Communicate frequently with Program Managers, Service Managers, Application Managers and others as needed.
- Oversee the day-to-day operational support for the service including:
- Daily production support incident and response management as well as alignment with appropriate Application Manager(s) and Service Manager(s) for major incidents. This includes following all ITIL SLAs.
- Communicate and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices that are set by the Tech Strategy Office for all employees who are developing within the service.
- Set standards around stylistic and implementation components, as appropriate, while in alignment with department wide coding standards.
- Ensure optimal levels of data integrity, reliability and support for the service including data warehouse and analytics repositories to support business objectives.
- Ensure service meets or exceeds standards for performance and up-time.
- Ensure technical documentation is up to date.
- Responsible for maintaining effective internal controls and executing risk and control procedures.
- Manage relationships with service vendor(s).
- Partner with Enterprise Security to ensure service security standards are met.
- Provide input to the IT contingency planning process.
- Conduct impact analysis for degradation or unavailability of service.
- Create and drive the short and long service technical strategy while aligning with cross functional partners including:
- Be aware of and drive to new technology, tools, upgrades and overall direction.
- Be proactive about developing, encouraging, and implementing continuous process improvements.
- Align with the Tech Strategy Office to ensure direction works with the overall technical strategy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience managing/coordinating projects and/or teams, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- 5+ years’ experience implementing and leading data warehouse / data lake / ETL and business intelligence solutions.
- Experience with vendor management or interaction with vendors.
- Possess strong conflict-resolution skills; Able to manage multiple priorities; Communicate issues to teams and management; Persevere even during resistance and setbacks with a focus on a successful outcome.
- Knowledge of current trends and tooling in the AWS data areas is required. Experience collaborating with enterprise data engineering and data science teams a plus.
- Maintain a high level of organizational and analytical skills.
- Solid oral and written communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization, including senior leadership. Relate well to others, easy to approach and quickly builds strong professional relationships.
